2010-11 (Senior)
NCAA Championships
Johnson was impressive in his opening round securing a major-decision victory over Zachary Bennett of North Carolina to advance to a match-up with No. 1 overall seed Cam Simaz from Cornell in the second round. In that match, Johnson pushed the top overall seed, but couldn't pull off the upset falling by decision, 8-4.

In the wrestleback bracket, Johnson picked up his second bonus-point victory of the tournament after dominating Ohio State's Peter Capone, 12-2, but was bounced in the next round by Sonny Yohn of Minnesota.

Big 12 Championships
After defeating Jerome Ward in his last regular-season dual, Johnson opened the Big 12 Championships against the Cyclone but couldn't produce the same result falling by a 3-1 count. Johnson responded by pinning Keldrick Hall from Oklahoma for his fourth fall of the season.

Johnson took on Missouri's Brent Haynes in the third-place match, but was defeated in the first tiebreaker period, 3-2, to finish in fourth place.

Regular Season
Making his return to the lineup after a year out of wrestling, Johnson made an immediate impact on the Husker lineup at 197 pounds. Johnson defeated four ranked opponents during the regular season helping him to an overall mark of 25-9, while going 14-5 in dual matches. Johnson's 14 dual victories were tied for second on the team and his 48 team dual points ranked third on the squad.

Johnson set the tone early in his dual season by upsetting No. 14 Cody Magrum of Ohio State by a 7-4 decision, and continued to rack up the victories by winning seven of his next eight matches. After winning his first two matches at the Midlands Championships, Johnson hit a rough patch losing three of his next four matches, but came back to win eight of his final nine matches.

In Big 12 dual competition, Johnson went 3-1 including victories over No. 10 Brent Haynes of Missouri and No. 14 Jerome Ward from Iowa State. Johnson finished the regular season with three pins, two major decisions and one technical fall.

2009-10 (Junior)
Johnson did not compete for the Huskers in 2009-10.

2008-09 (Sophomore)
Regular Season
Johnson wrestled to an 11-3 mark, posting a 1-1 mark in his two dual appearances during the 2008-09 season. He opened the year with a 3-1 showing at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open on Nov. 15 to place second. Wrestling in the elite division of the Kaufman-Brand Open on Nov. 22, Johnson went 2-1 before a minor injury forced him to default.

Johnson rebounded to win the Dana Open on Jan. 3 with a 4-0 mark, including two pins. He ended his season with two dual matches on Feb. 14. Johnson pinned UNC Greensboro's Brett Miller in 2:49, but lost a 3-2 decision to North Carolina's Ben Fiacco.

2007-08 (Redshirt Feshman)
Regular Season
Johnson stepped up to 174 pounds during his second year in the Husker program and into spot duty in the dual lineup. Seeing action in four open tournaments, Johnson ended the season with an 11-6 overall record and 3-1 mark in duals.

Johnson proved valuable in a backup role during the dual season. He earned 13 dual points while allowing just three. Johnson made his first career dual start a memorable one with a pin of Colt Reece in 2:06 at 184 pounds in Nebraska's win over Wyoming on Nov. 9. He defeated No. 11 David Craig with a 9-4 decision at 184 pounds in NU's dual with Lehigh on Nov. 16. Returning to 174 pounds, he notched a 20-7 major decision against South Dakota State's Justin Retallic and ended his dual showings with an 8-2 win over Dana's Tony Ponce.

Johnson finished the season with two pins and three major decisions.

2006-07 (Redshirt)
Regular Season
Johnson went 2-3 in his first year at Nebraska as a 165-pounder. After losing his first two college matches, Johnson went 2-1 with a win by fall at the Glen Brand Open on Jan. 20.

Before Nebraska
Johnson capped a strong four-year career at Yankton High School with a dominant 34-0 senior season at 171 pounds for Coach Ryan Hage. Among his 34 wins as a senior, 26 were by fall, setting a school record for pins in a season. Johnson was named the most outstanding wrestler at the 2006 South Dakota state championships. He was also a state champion as a junior.

Personal
Andy is the son of Bret and Kim Johnson and was born April 5, 1988, in Bryant, S.D. He has two brothers, Gene and Tyler. Andy is a nutritional science and dietetics major at NU.
