Wrestling for Bill Johnson, Thomas took third at the state championships during his junior campaign after a 30-1 season. He racked up 26 pins while helping his team to a third-place finish. Thomas looked to be on his way to another standout year with a 28-1 record during his senior season, but a knee injury at the regional tournament sidelined him.
