1983- In the regular season, Freeman earned a first-place finish at Midlands Invitational, a second-place finish at the Lehigh Invitational and a fifth-place finish at the Great Plains tournament. The senior finished the season with a 29-2-0 record and went 16-0-0 in dual action…Earned a first-place title at the Big Eight championships, defeating Iowa State’s Randy Conrad… At the NCAA championships, Freeman faced Darryl Burley (Lehigh) in the championship match, but fell, earning a runner-up finish.
1982- Redshirt.
1981- Al compiled a 25-6 record as a junior and placed fourth in the Big Eight meet and eighth in the NCAA championships.
1980- Won the Bison Open.
1979- Placed second in the Iowa Invitational.
Other - Al had a high school record of 94-18 while attending Griswold High School. He placed first and second in Iowa state meets and was a runner-up in the state freestyle championships.
