Alyssa Czapla came to Nebraska as an Academic Specialist and in 2026 became an Associate Director of Academics. Czapla works with the sports of men's basketball, women's basketball, women's golf and women's gymnastics.
In her role, Czapla woks alongside learning specialists and academic counselors, taking on the roles of advising and mentorship of student-athletes, teaching academic skill building and best practices. Men’s basketball has posted a team GPA over 3.100 in each of the past three seasons with 22 Academic All-Big Ten honorees in that span.
Czapla came to the University of Nebraska from the University of Illinois, where she served as an academic counselor for the Fighting Illini football team. Czapla also served as a program navigator at Des Moines Area Community College (2020-22) with a federal grant aiming to provide short-term certificates to high school graduates. Prior to DMACC, Czapla was an academic coordinator for the Iowa State football, track and field and women’s tennis teams.
A native of Johnson, Iowa, Czapla earned her bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Iowa State in 2015. She added a master’s degree in adult and higher education from the University of Oklahoma in 2017.
