Her best win of the season came against Kansas’ Janet Koch, who was ranked by ITA Tennis as the #50 women’s singles player in the country.

Shinde went 10-12 (2-4 Big Ten) on the doubles court in 2019, playing with partners Jessica Aragon (0-4) and Marina Cozac (10-8).

In the fall, Shinde went 2-1 in singles competition at the Minnesota Invitational from Sept. 21-23. She won her first match, dropped her semifinal match and then def. Agne Cepelyte (ARK) 6-4, 7-6 (4) to clinch third place in Singles Flight A. In doubles matches, Shinde and Jessica Aragon went 3-3 on the weekend.

Shinde lost her only singles match of the weekend at the ITA Central Regionals, but made a nice run in doubles competition with Jessica Aragon. The duo won their first three matches in the 64-team bracket play tournament, but got tripped up in the quarterfinals to fall to 3-1 on the weekend. Shinde and Aragon ended the fall with a 6-4 mark in doubles play.

2017-18 Junior:

Shinde impressed during her third season with the Huskers in 2017-18 after refining her skills with a successful fall invitational season.

The junior produced an impressive six wins during the fall, with three in singles and three in doubles action. By the time the spring season rolled around, Shinde was ready to compete. Recording 12 wins playing singles and 20 wins at doubles, Vasanti played a major role in the success of the 18-7 Nebraska team.

Shinde teamed up with Katerina Matysova to create Nebraska's winningest doubles team of the 2018 season. With a 7-1 record in the Big Ten, the team contributed to an impressive 4th place finish in the competitive conference.

Shinde was also able to put together 12 singles wins during the spring, mostly at the number 3 position. Six of those victories came during Big Ten competition.

2016-17 Sophomore:

Vasanti Shinde returned as a force for the Huskers, recording 15 singles wins this season. Shinde only played out of the No. 1 and No. 2 positions for the Huskers, winning a team-high eight matches out of the No. 1 position. She earned four Big Ten victories and 10 spring victories.

In doubles play, she helped the Huskers with 18 wins, playing out of all three positions. She added five Big Ten conference victories and won 11 spring matches. Shinde played with five different partners throughout the season.

Off the court, Shinde was named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team and the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.

2015-16 Freshman:
Vasanti Shinde produced one of the top freshman seasons in school history in her first seasons with the Huskers in 2016. The native of Pune, India, captured 35 combined victories on the year, including 33 during the spring.

In singles action, Shinde produced a 15-9 singles record in the spring playing out of the No. 3, 4 and 5 spots in the Husker lineup. She saw a majority of her time at No. 4, going 10-2, while adding a 4-3 mark at No. 5 and a 1-4 record at No. 3 singles. She went 5-5 in Big Ten play.

Shinde was even more productive in doubles play, posting an 18-4 mark paired primarily with Mary Hanna. That duo amassed a 17-4 overall mark that included an impressive 6-4 record in Big Ten action. The tandem played all but one match at No. 2 doubles, while playing one match out of the top spot in the doubles lineup. Shinde also teamed with fellow freshman Paula Del Cueto Castillo for a victory at the No. 2 spot.

Off the court, Shinde earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters. She was also a member of the 2016 Tom Osborne Citizenship team.

Coach Scott Jacobson says, "Vasanti comes to Nebraska with plenty of international experience. Her greatest strength is the heaviness with which she strikes the ball off of both her forehand and backhand side. A great benefit to her is her lefty spin serve as well as her attacking style of play. Vasanti has shown great promise this fall and we feel she can help the program in a big way this coming spring."

Before Nebraska:
Shinde joined the Nebraska women's tennis team after an impressive junior career in Pune, India. Shinde was ranked as the No. 158 Junior by the ITF.

Shinde, who began playing tennis at age 7, also claimed both a singles and doubles win at the Walchand Cup Under-16 National Series junior tennis tournament to walk away with the Double Crown championship title.

Personal:
The daughter of Pratap and Lalita Shinde, Vasanti was born on Feb. 18, 1997, in Pune, India. Vasanti has one brother, Sumeet. An economics major, she earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2019. She was a four-time selection to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
