2025-26: Freshman
Katie Spencer joined the Huskers in the spring of 2026, finishing the season with a 25-11 overall record, highlighted by a team-high 12 singles wins, and 13 doubles victories. Spencer played primarily on singles courts two and three, where she posted records of 5-2 and 5-3 respectively. Her biggest success came in doubles along with partner Conley Raidt, becoming the first ranked Nebraska duo since Maja Pietrowicz and Raphaelle Lacasse in 2024, peaking at a ranking of No. 36. Spencer brought in numerous awards in 2026, earning a Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor on April 8, becoming the first Nebraska freshman to win the award and first Husker to win a weekly honor since Samantha Alicea (2023). Spencer was also named a member of the All-Big Ten Second Team and the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
Off the court, Spencer was named a member of the 2026 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Before Nebraska
From Orlando, Fla., Spencer brings an impressive resume to Nebraska. Spencer, a blue-chip recruit, was Nebraska's first ever blue-chip in school history, and was ranked as high as No. 11 in the country, and the eighth ranked recruit in the state of Florida. Spencer competed in numerous ITF tournaments, highlighted by two doubles championships in 2025 at the Chesterton J100 and Orlando J60. She also earned two Silver Balls, one at the 2022 National Clay Court Championship as a 16U finalist, and one at the 2023 Winter National Championship as an 18U doubles finalist.
Personal
The daughter of Jim and Nicolina Spencer, Katie is currently undecided. Katie comes from a family with athletic history. Her father Jim played collegiate tennis at Clemson and Florida, and her brother Charlie Spencer currently plays Division I Tennis at the Naval Academy.
