2020-21 (Senior)
Alexa Fernández was a senior for the national champion Huskers in 2020-21, but did not compete during the year. A member of the 2020 NTCA All-Academic Team, she claimed Academic All-Big Ten honors for the third consecutive season in 2021. 

2019-20 (Junior)
Fernández provided depth on a talented Husker roster in 2019-20, as Nebraska finished the regular season ranked third nationally. She repeated as an Academic All-Big Ten selection and was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor roll in both semesters. 

2018-19 (Redshirt Sophomore) 
Fernández joined the Husker roster as sophomore in 2018-19 after sitting out the 2017-18 season. She provided depth for a Husker team that advanced to the 2019 NCAA semifinals.

Fernández excelled in the classroom in her first season with the Huskers, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors and a prestigious Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award. She also claimed a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2018. She was a member of the 2019 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. 

Before Nebraska   
Fernández attended the University of Alabama-Birmingham and was a member of the UAB bowling team. She earned a place on the 2016-17 Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Prior to attending UAB, Fernández competed on the Costa Rica National Team. She was the Division II runner-up in 2014 and 2015 and also the Youth National Champion in 2014 and 2015. She earned silver at the 2017 U-21 Youth Pan American Games, finished with bronze at the 2015 U-21 Iberoamericano and also earned the silver medal at the 2012 U-16 Youth Central American and Caribbean Tournament.

Personal   
The daughter of Mario Fernández and Karla Bravo, Alexa was born on Feb. 18, 1998. She has two brothers, Adrián and Juan (Carlos). A graduate of the Marian Baker School in San José, Costa Rica, Alexa majors in geology and chemistry at Nebraska. She was honored with an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award in 2019. She was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten choice and a three-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. She also has been selected to the Tom Osborne Citizenship team three times.
