Team 2002-03 Nebraska Women's Basketball

Freshman (2001-02) / Sophomore (2002-03)
Royonna Bristol walked on to the Nebraska women's basketball team as a sophomore in 2002-03.  Bristol, a 6-1 forward from Bryan High School in Omaha, did not play for the Huskers. She originally walked on to the Husker program as a true freshman, but did not finish the season with the Huskers.

She never appeared in a game for the Huskers and did not earn a letter.

Bristol averaged 13.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as a senior at Bryan and earned all-division honors in the Metro Conference.  She is expected to provide depth inside for Nebraska this season.

High School
Bristol averaged 13.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as a senior for Coach John Green at Bryan High School in Omaha.

A three-year letterwinner on the court, Bristol was also a team captain as a senior.  In addition to her basketball success, Bristol was a four-year letterwinner in track and field, qualifying for the state meet in the shot put in both her junior and senior seasons and the discus as a junior.  She finished second in the district meet in the discus as a junior.

Bristol was also a standout in the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society, while finishing in the top 10 percent of her class in all four years of high school.  She was also the vice-president of the African-American Club and was the 2001 Prom Queen.

Personal
The daughter of LeRoy and Deborah Bristol, Royonna is the youngest of seven children, with four older sisters, Shawna, 33, LaToya, 32, Myosha, 29, and Reshea, 24, and two older brothers, LaRon, 31, and Regis, 28.  Royonna's sister Reshea was a four-year letterwinner at Arizona, and her brother LaRon played basketball at the University of Portland.  Royonna was born Sept. 20, 1983, in Omaha.  She is a biochemistry major.
