The only scholarship freshman on Nebraska's 2002-03 roster, Jamie Wendelin (WEN-duh-lin) is a solid shooter with good size.

The Gretna, Neb., native was an outstanding high school player, who earned Lincoln Journal Star Second-Team Super-State and Omaha World-Herald Second-Team All-Nebraska honors as a senior.

High School
Wendelin averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals per game as senior for Coach Jerome Skrdla at Gretna High School, which finished with a 21-3 record and a No. 3 Class B (second largest) ranking. She earned Lincoln Journal Star Second-Team Super-State honors and second-team All-Nebraska accolades from the Omaha World-Herald. She was a first-team Class B pick by both papers. A three-time All-Eastern Midlands Conference pick, Wendelin earned second-team all-state honors after averaging 15.5 points and eight boards as a junior.

During the summer of 2001, Wendelin played for the Daubert-Pinnacle Bank Senior All-Star team, after competing for the Daubert-Pinnacle Bank Junior All-Star squad in the summer of 1999.

Wendelin earned honorable-mention Class B all-state honors in softball from the Lincoln Journal Star after her junior season.

The daughter of Jerry and Gina Wendelin, Jamie Rae Wendelin was born in San Antonio, Texas, on Nov. 13, 1983. She has one sister, Jessie, 17, and two brothers, Jon, 13, and Jason, 8. Wendelin has not declared a major.
