Senior (1986-87)
With the ability to play both inside and out, Shelly Block grabbed a 6.0 rebounds per game, second best on the team, as a starter in all 29 games for the Huskers. Block broke into the lineup mid-way through her junior year and provided the Huskers with consistent performances through her senior year.
Block also played a critical role for NU on offense, connecting on 46.5 of her shots from the field and averaging 5.3 points per game. In addition, Block dished out 56 assists and recorded 27 steals in her final year as a Husker.
Junior (1985-86)
Block provided NU with solid contributions before breaking into the starting lineup midway through the season. She produced 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 points per game. Block also recorded 59 assists and 21 steals for NU.
Block recorded season-best performances against Eastern Kentucky with nine rebounds, and nine assists against Colorado. In the Kansas game, Block scored a season-best 12 points.
Sophomore (1984-85)
Contribuing off the bench in all 27 games for the Huskers, Block was able to give NU versatility from the bench. Scoring 2.1 points per game, Block produced a personal-best 16 points against Missouri-KC, making 10 of 12 free throws. Block also grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds against Missouri-KC.
Freshman (1983-84)
In her first season, Block averaged 2.8 points off the bench for NU while also producing 1.9 rebounds. Block saw action in 25 games and hit 34.8 percent of her shots from the field.
Personal
Block is the daughter of Daryl and Linda Block. At Gothenburg High School, Block played for Head Coach Mark Peyton. Block recieved her degree in 1988.
