Senior (1992-93)
As a fifth-year senior in Coach Angela Beck's program, Rissa Taylor put the finishing touches on a solid Nebraska career by averaging 7.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while helping the Huskers to one of the best seasons in school history. The 6-1 forward from Peoria, Ill., appeared in 31 games with 28 starts as a senior to close her NU career with 57 starts in 110 games played.
She totaled 699 points, 412 rebounds, 100 assists, 66 blocked shots and 150 steals during her five seasons in Lincoln.
As a senior, Taylor shot 43.5 percent from the field, including a 1-for-5 effort from three-point range. She also connected on 57.5 percent of her free throw attempts, while ranking fourth on the team with 45 steals. She helped the Huskers to a 23-7 overall record and a 10-4 Big Eight mark, while advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Taylor produced the first double-double of her career with 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in Nebraska's 84-67 win over Illinois on Dec. 9. She just missed a second double-double with nine points and 11 boards in a loss at Penn State on Jan. 2. Taylor scored a season-high 17 points against Oklahoma State on Jan. 8.
Taylor notched her second career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds to help the Huskers to their 20th win of the season with an 89-40 victory over Iowa State on Feb. 28.
In Nebraska's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, Taylor scored eight points and pulled down 10 rebounds while adding two assists and two blocked shots in an 81-58 win over San Diego on March 17.
Junior (1991-92)
In her fourth season at Nebraska, Taylor enjoyed a breakthrough season by averaging 8.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. She played in 32 games with 24 starts and averaged nearly 25 minutes per contest. She erupted for a season-high 23 points against Oklahoma State on Feb. 26, while setting a season-high with 10 rebounds against Wisconsin-Green Bay on Dec. 8.
A vastly improved all-around player as a junior, Taylor dished out a season-high four assists against Grambling on Nov. 29 and twice posted five steals (Cal State Northridge, Oklahoma State). She also set a season-best with three blocked shots against Illinois on Dec. 14.
On the season, Taylor led the Huskers with 69 steals, while also posting a team-high 27 blocked shots. She hit 45.5 percent of her shots from the field and 66.3 percent of her free throws on the year.
In Nebraska's National Women's Invitational Tournament appearance, Taylor averaged 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while notching four blocked shots during the three tournament games.
Sophomore (1990-91)
In her third season in the Husker program, Taylor continued to improve by appearing in 27 games with five starts on the year. She averaged 4.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Taylor also tied Kelly Hubert for the team lead with 14 blocked shots on the year. Taylor scored a season-high 13 points and contributed a season-high nine rebounds in Nebraska's win over Robert Morris.
Redshirt Freshman (1989-90)
Taylor appeared in 20 games as a redshirt freshman and averaged 3.0 points and 1.4 rebounds per game for the Huskers. She recorded a season-high 14 points against Creighton, while pulling down five rebounds on two occasions.
Freshman (1988-89)
A scholarship athlete at Nebraska, Taylor elected to redshirt during her first season at Nebraska.
High School
Taylor captured back-to-back all-state and all-conference honors at Manual High School in Peoria, Ill. She averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds in each of her last two seasons to help Manual to back-to-back state tournament appearances and the Illinois Class 2A state title in 1986.
Personal
The daughter of Marie Robinson and Harry Taylor, Rissa was born Sept. 9, 1970. She majored in child development at Nebraska.
