A 6-2 wing from Illinois, Amiah Hargrove was named a Small Town All-American by MaxPreps in 2024 after averaging 28.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 1.9 assists per game for Class 1A Christopher High School as a senior. During her career, Hargrove totaled 2,774 points and 1,096 rebounds including school records of 890 points and 334 rebounds as a senior.
The No. 2 recruit in the state of Illinois by Prep Girls Hoop, Hargrove brings explosive offensive ability and overall athleticism with her to Nebraska. The three-time Southern Illinois Player of the Year averaged 25.8 points and 10.2 rebounds during her four-year high school career while capturing Illinois Class 1A first-team all-state honors each of her last three seasons.
Nebraska Coach Amy Williams said Hargrove has a ton of upside in her basketball future.

Before Nebraska
Hargrove averaged 28.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 1.9 assists as a senior at Illinois Class 1A Christopher High School. The No. 2 recruit in the state of Illinois, Hargrove was a three-time Southern Illinois Player of the Year and a four-time Class 1A all-state selection. She was also named to the MaxPreps Small Town All-America Team as a senior at Christopher, which is a town (pop. 2,644) approximately 100 miles southeast of St. Louis. She finished with 2,774 points and 1,096 after averaging 25.8 points and 10.2 rebounds during her prep career. She also totaled more than 200 career steals while hitting more than 83 percent of her free throws.
As a junior in 2022-23, Hargrove averaged 24.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists , 2.2 steals and 1.3 blocks while hitting 62.8 percent of her shots from the field to help Christopher High School to a Class 1A runner-up finish. The four-time Illinois Class 1A all-state selection was the 2023 Associated Press Illinois Class 1A Player of the Year and a three-time Southern Illinois Girls Basketball Player of the Year. She was also a three-time conference MVP and four-time all-conference selection.
A talented all-around athlete, Hargrove erupted for a career-high 55 points against Salem and 51 points against Cobden. She led Christopher High School to a state runner-up finish after capturing sectional and super-sectional titles in 2023. She has also fueled the Bearcats to a trio of conference championships and two regional crowns.
Hargrove also has competed in volleyball, softball and track and field, while earning third-team Academic All-America honors. She was a member of the High Honor Roll and National Honor Society at Christopher.
She played AAU basketball for Bradley Beal Elite and was ranked as the No. 159 recruit in the nation by Blue Star Basketball.
Personal
The daughter of Anthony and Ami Hargrove, Amiah was born Nov. 1, 2005 in St. Louis, Mo. She has a younger sister, Aralynn, and an older brother, Tre Carroll, who is a redshirt junior basketball player at Florida Atlantic. He was a redshirt freshman on the Owls' 2023 NCAA Final Four team. Amiah's father was an NFL defensive end from 2004 to 2013. He was drafted out of Georgia Tech by the St. Louis Rams and was a member of seven NFL teams, including the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints.
Amiah plans to major in marine biology at Nebraska. She chose Nebraska over Creighton, Missouri, Illinois and Marquette.
"I chose Nebraska because it was the perfect fit for me," Hargrove said. "From the Lincoln community to the coaching staff, it instantly reminded me of home. I know that sounds cliche, but it is so true. I cannot wait to be a Husker!"
