2000-01 (Senior)
After redshirting with a knee injury in 1999-2000, Monique Whitfield ended her Nebraska career witha a solid senior season, averaging 5.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, while appearing in 26 contests with 16 starts.
Whitfield was one of Nebraska's top shooters, connecting on 53.7 percent (65-121) of her field goal attempts, including 66.7 percent (2-3) of her three-point tries.
She led Nebraska to its biggest win of the season witha 69-61 upset of then-No. 25 UC Santa Barbara. Whitfield scored a season-high 11 points against the Gauchos to earn a spot on the Time Warner Cable Classic All-Tournament team.
Whitfield, who missed all of the 1999-2000 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee, averaged 8.4 points and 6.1 rebounds through Nebraska's first 11 games, including five double-figure scoring performances.
Whitfield closed her two-year Nebraska career averaging 5.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 58 games with 24 starts. Before coming to Nebraska, she was an NJCAA All-American for 1998 national champion Central Arizona, averaging 16.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game with the Vaqueras.
1998-99 (Junior)
Whitfield appeared in 32 games with eight starts, including Nebraska's final two games of the Big 12 regular-season after transferring form Central Arizona in 1998-99. Wthifield missed hte Louisville game because of the flu.
Whitfield provided instant offense off the bench for the Huskers, averaging 5.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in just 15.6 minutes per game.
Whitfield was intrumental in Nebraska's 68-67 victory over No. 15 Iowa State on Feb. 7, scoring 16 points and grabbing five rebounds in just 19 minutes. Her 8-for-11 shooting performance from the field marked career highs in both categories.
She scored a career-high 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds in a win over Troy State. She was also a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free thow line.
Whitfield was perfect from the field again in Nebraska's win over Texas A&M in the postseason setting a Big 12 Tournament record with 5-for-5 effort from the field to finish with 11 points and five rebounds. She scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds in a win over Oklahoma on Jan. 30. She nearly posted a double-double in her first game in a Husker uniform, scoring nine points and hauling in eight boards in a win over South Alabama. She came near double-doubles again with seven points and a season-high nine boards against Texas Tech and nine points and eight boards vs. Kansas state.
For the season, Whitfield ranked fourth on the team, shooting 49.7 percent (79-159) from the field and 56.8 percent (21-37) from the foul line. Whitfield's 21 rejections ranked third on the team behind Lisa Reitsma's 34 and Charlie Roger's 28 blocks. She earned starting duties agaisnt Troy State, Montana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and in the NCAA Tournament loss to Kentucky.
1996-98 (Central Arizona CC)
Whitfield was a key to Central Arizona's run to an NJCAA national title in 1998. She earned first-team NJCAA All-America honors and a spot on the NJCAA Championships All-Tournament Team, helping Coach Lin Laursen and the Coolidge, Ariz., school to a 33-1 record.
Whitfield was the Vaqueras' second-leading scorer, averaging 16.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Central Arizona finished second nationally in scoring offense with 91.9 points per game, and led the nation in scoring defense allowing 47.5 points per game. As a freshman, Whitfield averaged 12.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game to lead the Vaqueras to a 32-2 mark and a final No. 3 national ranking. She finshed her career with 997 points.
High School
Whitfield played high school basketball for Coach Tom Pryor at Garh High School in Cerritos, Calif. Whitfield led Garh to the California Interscholastic Federation semifinals in 1996, while averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds per game. Before playing at Garh High School, Whitfield also competed for Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Calif.

The daughter of Leilani Blake, Monique was born March 23, 1978, in Long Beach, Calif. Her full name in Leilani Monique Whitfield. Monique received her bachelor's degree in sociology.
