2003-04 (Senior)
Keasha Cannon-Johnson led Nebraska as a senior by ranking third in the Big 12 with 8.4 rebounds per game, while ranking second on the team with 11.1 points, 3.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
The two-time honorable-mention All-Big 12 pick finished her career with 12 double-doubles, including six as a senior. She earned Big 12 Player-of-the-Week honors after producing 13 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in a win over Louisiana-Lafayette (Dec. 14). She added six points, including the game-winning three-pointer, a game-high 11 rebounds, and a career-high tying nine assists in the win over No. 13 Ohio State (Dec. 12). She followed with a season-high 23 points, four steals, eight rebounds and four assists in a win over Creighton.
The 2002 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Cannon-Johnson led NU in scoring (12.9 ppg), rebounding (8.4 rpg), assists (4.0 apg) and steals (2.1 spg) after transferring from Penn Valley CC. She ranked 17th in the Big 12 in scoring, fourth in rebounding, 11th in assists and eighth in steals. She scored a career-high 27 points in a win over No. 11 Kansas State (Feb. 10, 2002), while adding a season-best 16 boards.
The couple had a son, Nate Jr., who was born April 8, 2003. The daughter of the late Michelle Hall, Keasha was born on Feb. 25, 1980 in Kansas City, Kan. She earned her bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
2002-03 (Redshirt)
Cannon-Johnson redshirted in her second season with the Huskers and married Nebraska men's basketball senior guard Nate Johnson.
Nate Johnson started 28 games for the Husker men as a junior in 2002-03. He ranked seoncd on the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game, while adding 3.8 rebounds per contest. He also attended Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City before attending Nebraska. Johnson was also a first-team NJCAA All-American at Penn Valley.
2001-02 (Junior)
Cannon-Johnson ranked 17th in the Big 12 in scoring and fourth in rebounding. She also ranked 11th in the league in assists and eighth in steals.
Cannon-Johnson porduced a team-leading 18 double-figure scoring efforts, while making 26 starts. She missed three games following the death of her mother, Michelle Hall, on Dec. 19.
Along with being Nebraska's most consistent scoring threat, she added seven double-figure rebounding efforts, including a career-high 16 boards in NU's win over No. 11 Kansas State on Feb. 10. She added 15 boards in wins over Kansas (Feb. 13) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christie (Dec. 8).
Cannon-Johson unleashed a career-high 27-point effort, hitting 10-of-15 shots from the field in the win over Kansas State, which bettered her 25-point performance at Colorado on Feb. 6, hitting 11-of-15 shots from the field. She scored 22 points against Iowa State on Jan. 26, 21 at New Orleans on Dec. 2 and 20 points against Missouri on Jan. 15.
Cannon-Johnson reeled off five 20-point efforts as a junior, including four in the Big 12 play. She also produced six double-doubles. She posted her first double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Texas Southern on Nov. 29, before scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 boards at New Orleans. She added 15 points and 15 rebounds against TAMUCC, just missing her first career triple-double by dishing out a career-high nine assists. She added a fourth double-double with 12 points and 11 boards against Missouri on Feb. 2. Cannon-Johnson produced her sixth double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds in the win over Kansas on Feb. 13. She scored 13 points and pulled down 10 boards in the second half alone against KU.
2000-01 (Penn Valley CC)
Cannon-Johnson ranked among the top 10 players in the nation in nearly every catagory, while earning first-team NJCAA Division II All-America honors for the second consecutive season.
Cannon-Johnson averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, six steals and three blocked shots per game, while leading Penn Valley CC to the Elite Eight in the NJCAA Division II Tournament for the second straight season. She guided Penn Valley to a 25-1 record and a No. 2 national ranking at the end of the regular season.Â
1999-2000 (Penn Valley CC)
Cannon-Johnson ranked among the top 10 players in NJCAA Division II in scoring (20.7), assists (7.9), shooting percentage (57.0) and free throw percentage (81.0), while leading Penn Valley Community College to an Elite Eight finish in the NJCAA Division II Tournament.
Cannon-Johnson's performance helped her earn first-team NJCAA All-America honors.
High School
After missing her entire sophomore season at Washington High School in Kansas City, Kan., with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee, Cannon-Johnson returned to earn Kansas City Metro Area Player-of-the-Year honors and honorable-mention All-America honors from USA Today as a senior in 1998-99.
Cannon-Johnson finished second among the school's all-time leading scorers with 1,245 points. She signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Huskers out of high school, but was a partial-academic qualifier and elected to attend Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Mo.
