Team 1983-84 Nebraska Women's Basketball

Jacquie Shackelford was a two-time letterwinner for the Nebraska women's basketball team in 1982-83 and 1983-84. She provided her greatest contributions as a freshman, when she averaged 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while appearing in 26 games off the bench.

As a sophomore, she played in seven games and averaged 4.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in limited action. In 33 career games, Shackelford scored 180 points, grabbed 70 rebounds and dished out 47 assists. She did not return to the team following her sophomore campaign.

Shackelford came to Nebraska after earning MVP honors at Culver City High School. A native of Inglewood, Calif., the 5-8 guard was a third-team All-California Interscholastic Federation selection as a senior in 1982, after averaging 23 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists per game. She was a talented all-around athlete, lettering in basketball, volleyball and track and Culver City.

The daughter of Frank and Vivian Shackelford, Jacquie was born Jan. 7, 1964. Shackelford was an advertising major at Nebraska.
