One of the top junior college centers in 2003-04, Bojana Samardziska (pronounced BOY-ah-nah SAM-ar-ZEE-ska) was the lone center on Nebraska's 2004-05 roster.

The 6-4 center from Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro joined her countrywomen Jelena Spiric and Ivana Drmanac at Nebraska as a junior.

Samardziska made a splash with a career-high 19 points in Nebraska’s 69-60 win over Tennessee-Martin on Dec. 7, and the junior college transfer shown she is capable of producing solid numbers.

Samardziska knocked down 9-of-12 shots from the field against Tennessee-Martin. She also hit her only free throw attempt of the game, while pulling down five rebounds, blocking two shots and snagging one steal in the win over the Skyhawks. She did all that in just 13 minutes of court time, in an amazingly productive performance.

Samardziska had scored just 21 points in Nebraska’s first seven games before her outburst against Tennessee-Martin. She entered the UT-Martin game averaging 3.3 points per game.

She added another hugely productive outing in the win over Memphis on Dec. 30, when she scored 11 points, grabbed six rebounds and added a blocked shot in just 11 minutes of action off the bench.

In Nebraska’s win over Colorado to open Big 12 Conference play on Jan. 5, Samardziska helped the Huskers with 10 points, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal in a career-high 20 minutes. She made her first start of the year in place of an injured Chelsea Aubry in the win at Missouri on Jan. 8.

Samardziska, who appeared in 24 games with one start for the Huskers, averaged 3.1 points per game, despite playing just 6.7 minutes per contest. She added 1.8 rebounds per game, while ranking third on the team with nine blocks. For the season, Samardziska shot 50.0 percent (29-58). She also contributed nine steals and five assists on the year.

In her two-year career at Colby (Kan.) Community College, Samardziska scored 1,038 points and grabbed 601 rebounds. She captured first-team NJCAA Region VI All-Tournament honors by averaging 26 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocked shots per game in 2004. She averaged 17.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game on her way to second-team All-Jayhawk West Conference honors last season.

Colby CC (2002-03, 2003-04)
Samardziska keyed Colby CC's rise to national prominence in two seasons for Coach Tom Stephens.

Samardziska joined fellow Husker recruits and Serbia & Montenegro natives Jelena Spiric and Ivana Drmanac in helping Colby CC to a school-record 29 victories and a No. 8 national ranking in 2003-04.

She provided a dominant inside presence, averaging 17.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots per game to earn second-team NJCAA All-Region VI honors in 2003-04. She also claimed second-team All-Jayhawk West Conference accolades.

Samardziska captured first-team NJCAA Region VI All-Tournament honors by averaging 26.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and an amazing 5.5 blocks per game.

She finished her two-year career ranked fourth on Colby CC's all-time scoring list with 1,038 points. She added 601 rebounds to finish her career with averages of 16.0 points and 9.2 rebounds over 65 career games. She also set a school record with 262 career free throws made. Her 582 points as a sophomore were the second-best single-season total in school history.

Samardziska made an instant impact on the Colby CC program by averaging 14.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game as a freshman to earn honorable-mention NJCAA All-Region VI honors. She posted 15 double-doubles in 32 games to earn third-team All-Jayhawk West Conference honors. The arrival of Samardziska and fellow Husker recruit Ivana Drmanac helped Colby go from 8-23 in 2001-02 to 18-14 in 2002-03.

High School
Samardziska attended high school at Zef Ljus Marku in Skopje, Macedonia and competed in the Vodnjanski Lisici and Partizan club programs. She was coached by her father, Boban Samardziski.
