Feature Story - Huskers. Together. (Bella Cravens, 2020)
Senior (2021-22)
Bella Cravens averaged 5.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in her second season at Nebraska in 2021-22. She notched her only double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds at Illinois (Feb. 12). She put up a Nebraska career-best 15 points to go with seven rebounds in a win at Minnesota (Dec. 6).
She opened with 13 points and eight boards in a win over Maine (Nov. 9) and had 10 points and six boards in a win over Wake Forest (Dec. 1). She contributed 10 points at Penn State (Feb. 17), nine points in a win over Creighton (Nov. 17) and eight points and seven boards in wins over Alabama A&M (Nov. 14) and NC Central (Nov. 20).
Cravens also averaged 6.0 points and 14.5 rebounds in two wins in San Diego (Nov. 26-27).
She suffered an ankle injury in practice prior to Nebraska's win over No. 8 Michigan (Jan. 4) and missed three straight games against nationally ranked foes, including the Wolverines, Iowa (Jan. 9) and
at Indiana (Jan. 13). She returned for two second-half minutes at Iowa (Jan. 16) before a COVID pause kept the Huskers off the court until a 77-44 win over Wisconsin (Jan. 27). Cravens saw significant action in a return to the starting lineup against the Badgers with seven points and seven rebounds.
Cravens made her 15th and final start of the season in a win over Purdue (Jan. 30), when she managed four points and four rebounds. She came off the bench for the final 14 games of the season. Following her double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the win at Illinois (Feb. 12), Cravens produced a strong effort with seven points and six rebounds in Nebraska's 72-55 win over No. 5 Indiana (Feb. 14).
She closed the regular season strong with seven points and five rebounds in a win at Wisconsin (Feb. 23), before getting six points and five rebounds in a Senior Day win over Northwestern (Feb. 27). Cravens opened the Big Ten Tournament with five points and seven rebounds in a win over Illinois (March 3), before adding six points, two rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in a 76-73 win over No. 10 Michigan in the Big Ten quarterfinals (March 4).
Cravens managed two points in the Big Ten semifinals against No. 12 Iowa, but did not score in 19 minutes in a loss to Gonzaga in the NCAA First Round at Louisville (March 18).
Cravens was named Nebraska's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner for the second straight season and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors for her performance in the classroom.
She produced two-year totals of 323 points, 334 rebounds, 65 assists, 49 blocked shots and 29 steals in 53 games with 32 starts at Nebraska.
Junior (2020-21)
Cravens started 17 games in her first season for Nebraska after transferring from Eastern Washington.
She averaged 6.4 points and 7.6 rebounds, along with 1.3 assists and 1.1 blocks for the Huskers. She played in 23 games, missing three contests in late-February with an ankle injury. She suffered the injury early in a loss to Iowa (Feb. 11) and missed games (Feb. 17-24).
Cravens closed the year by averaging 8.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in two Postseason WNIT games. She had seven points and a game-high 14 rebounds in a win over UT Martin (March 19), before adding 10 points, eight boards, three assists and two blocks against Colorado (March 20). It was her fifth double-figure scoring effort of the season, while she added six double-figure rebound games.
She produced her first Husker double-double with a season-high 13 points to go with 11 rebounds in a win over Wisconsin (Jan. 28).
Cravens pulled down a career-high-tying 16 boards in her first Husker start in a Big Ten win over Illinois (Dec. 10). She added 14 boards in a win over No. 15 Ohio State (Jan. 16) and 13 rebounds in a win over Rutgers (Jan. 3). She had 10 rebounds at Purdue (Dec. 23).
Cravens scored 12 points at No. 15 Indiana (Dec. 20) and added 12 more against Iowa (Feb. 11). She got 10 points at No. 15 Michigan (Jan. 7) and pitched in nine points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks in a win at No. 23 Michigan State (Jan. 10). She had six points, eight rebounds and three assists in NU’s win over No. 15 Northwestern (Dec. 31).
Sophomore (Eastern Washington, 2019-20)
An honorable-mention All-Big Sky selection as a sophomore at Eastern Washington, Cravens averaged 10.4 points and a Big Sky-leading 8.5 rebounds per game while appearing in 28 games with 26 starts.
She ranked 92nd nationally in rebounding average. Cravens produced six double-doubles on the season, including a career-high 28 points and 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action against Northern Arizona (Feb. 22). She hit 10-of-12 field goals against NAU just two days after going 8-for-8 from the field against Sacramento State (Feb. 18).
She had 18 points and 15 rebounds against Portland State (Feb. 15) and 20 points, career highs of 16 rebounds and five steals, along with a season-high four blocks against Southern Utah (Feb. 27).
During that four-game stretch (Feb. 15-27), Cravens averaged 20.8 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.8 steals while hitting 69.6 percent (32-46) of her field goal attempts.
For the season, she scored in double figures 14 times, including two 20-point efforts, while grabbing 10 or more rebounds on 10 occasions.
Cravens ranked fifth in the Big Sky and 66th nationally with 1.7 blocks per game. She totaled 96 blocks in two seasons at Eastern Washington, which ranked ninth on the school career charts.
Freshman (Eastern Washington, 2018-19)
Cravens competed in 32 games with 17 starts as a true freshman for EWU in 2018-19. She averaged 3.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in just 15.8 minutes per game. Cravens had a season-high 13 points to go along with 12 rebounds for her first career double-double against Idaho State (March 12).
She added a career-high five blocks and a season-best 15 rebounds against Sacramento State (Feb. 28). She finished the season with two games in double-figure points and three with double-digit rebounds.
Off the court, Cravens earned a spot on the Big Sky Winter All-Academic Team.
High School
Cravens led the Maryknoll School to four consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) titles during her tenure. She also led the Spartans to runner-up finishes at the state tournament in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Following her senior season, she claimed first-team all-state, first-team defensive all-state and ILH Player-of-the-Year honors. She was an HHSAA Hall of Honor recipient. Cravens earned four letters in basketball and three in volleyball.
Personal
The daughter of Sharlene and Mark Cravens, Isabella was born May 7, 2000. She has five siblings, including older sisters Natallia and Cybil, older brother William, and younger brothers Braxton and Gabriel. Bella earned her bachelor's degree in communication studies from Nebraska in December of 2021. She is a three-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and a two-time Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner.
