2003-04 (Senior)
A two-time honorable-mention All-Big 12 selection, Alexa Johnson closed her Nebraska career ranked No. 20 on the Huskers' all-time scoring list with 1,035 points. She is currently No. 31 on NU's career chart. She led the Huskers and ranked 16th in the Big 12 with 12.8 points per game as a senior, after averaging 14.8 points to rank 11th in the league as a junior. Johnson also ranked 13th in the Big 12 in rebounding as a junior with 6.8 boards per game.
Johnson closed her career on a tear, producing double figures in points in each of her last 14 games. Johnson produced nine 20-point performances in her career, including a career-high 27 points in Nebraska's win over No. 25 Cincinnati on Dec. 15, 2002. Her effort against the Bearcats earned her Big 12 Player-of-the-Week honors. She added a season-high 21 points in NU's win over Oklahoma State as a senior.
A career 79.6 percent free throw shooter, Johnson finished in a tie for third at NU in that category.
2002-03 (Junior)
An honorable-mention All-Big 12 selection, Johnson was Nebraska's most productive offensive player, leading the Huskers with 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest in 2002-03.
Johnson ranked among the top players in the Big 12 in scoring and rebounding, finishing the season with 24 douuble-figure scoring efforts. She produced 18 games with 15 or more points, including six 20-point performances as a junior. This included a 20-plus outing that came with a 21-point performance against No. 5 Kansas State on Feb. 12.
Johnson also contributed five double-figure rebounding games in 2002-03, with the last one coming in an 11-board effort at Iowa State on March 1. She produced four double-doubles on the season with final one of the season coming with a 15-point, 11-rebound effort in a win over San Diego on Dec. 28. She produced back-to-back double-doubles with 15 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Texas Southern on Dec. 9, and 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Cal State Fullerton on Dec. 11.
For her efforts agasint Texas Southern, Cal State Fullerton and Cincinnati, Johnson was honored with Big 12 Player-of-the-Week honors on Dec. 16.
One of NU's most improved players in each of the last two seasons, Johnson produced a career high with 27 points in the Huskers' 65-55 win over No. 25 Cincinnati on Dec. 15. She opened the season with 24 points and 13 rebounds for her first career double-double in the win over Grambling State on Nov.22. She produced 23 points in NU's win at Oklahoma State on Feb. 1. She had 21 points and six rebounds in a win over Rice on Nov. 24, and added a 21-point outburst in NU's win over New Orleans on Dec. 22.
Johnson scored 18 points in the loss to No. 4 Kansas State on Jan. 19, and added 17 points in Nebraska's loss to No. 15 Penn State on Dec. 30.
2001-02 (Sophomore)
The most improved player on Nebraska's young team, Johnson played a prominent role in 2001-02.
She averaged 6.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest while being one of only five players to compete in all 30 games. On the season, Johnson averaged 15.8 minutes per game primarily off the bench, although she made seven starts on the year.
Johnson also supplied consistency in Big 12 play, averaging 6.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game to rank fifth on the club in scoring and fourth in rebounding during league play, while averaging 17.6 minutes per game.
Johnson was one of Nebraska's top shooters, knocking down 45.3 percent (77-170) of her field goal attempts, including 33.3 percent (2-6) of her three-point tries, while hitting 82.8 percent (48-58) of her free throws. Johnson had hit 13 consecutive free throws before missing her second attempt against Colorado in the regular-season finale on Feb.26.
Johnson's scoring numbers were in sharp contrast to the 1.7 points and 0.7 rebounds per game that she averaged as a true freshman, while playing just 5.8 minutes per contest.
Johnson produced seven double-figure scoring efforts, including a season-high 15 points in NU's win over Texas A&M on Jan. 9. She added seven rebounds in a season-high 29 minutes against the Aggies. Her effort against Texas A&M followed a 13-point performance agaisnt Texas that included a season-high eight rebounds. She added 14 points and four rebounds while making her sixth start at No. 4 Oklahoma on Feb. 16.
Johnson also improved on defense with 20 steals and three blocked shots compared with one steal and no blocks in 2000-01.
2000-01 (Freshman)
Johnson provided quality minutes for the Huskers in a supporting role as a true freshman. She averaged 1.7 points and 0.7 rebounds per game, while appearing in 20 contests, including nine appearances in Big 12 play.
Johnson made the first start of her career in Nebraska's win over East Carolina on Dec. 30, after scoring six points in 12 minutes against Arizona on Dec. 21. Johnson established her season high with eight points in a season-high 15 minutes of action against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in the San Juan Shootout on Dec. 19. She also added six points and a season-high three rebounds in a win over Southeastern Louisiana on Nov. 25.
A talented offensive player, Johnson connected on 44.4 percent (12-27) of her field goal attempts. She also proved herself in the classroom by earning spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in the fall of 2000 and the spring of 2001.
High School
Johnson earned Street & Smith's Honorable-Mention High School All-America honors and was named a fourth-team All-American by California High School Sports in 1999-2000. She averaged 31.4 points and 15.7 rebounds per game, while helping Los Altos High School to a Miramonte League title with a perfect 10-0 conference record under Coach Todd Quinsey.
Johnson was a three-time first-team All-California Interscholastic Federation pick and a first-team all-state selection in 2000. She was a two-time San Gabriel Valley Player of the Year and the 2000 Los Altos High School Athlete of the Year. Johnson attended the Nike All-American Camp during the summer of 1999.
In addition to earning four letters in basketball, Johnson was a member of the Principal's Honor Roll all four years of high school, earning a 3.5 or higher grade-point average throughout high school.
Personal
The daughter of Rossie and Stephany Johnson, Alexa was born Feb. 2, 1982, in Whittier, Calif. She earned her bachelor's degree in economics in 2004.
Johnson (Arnold) lives in the San Diego area, where she is a sales manager. Her husband, CJ Arnold, is the defensive coordinator for the Grossmont College football team in California.
