Chris Slatt joined the Huskers as a volunteer coach in 2012-13. He graduated from South Dakota in 2006.
In his first year with the Huskers, Slatt helped coach NU to continued success in 2013 as freshman Kari Heck earned honorable-mention All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and Mara Griva tallied four conference titles and two first-team All-America honors during her senior season. He also helped coach the men's jumpers to success as Patrick Raedler earned the indoor long jump title and Janis Leitis finished with the indoor triple jump crown and both earned first-team All-America honors in 2013.
Slatt was an indoor and outdoor NCAA qualifier and earned North Central Conference honors in the long jump as a collegiate athlete. He was coached by world record holder Mike Powell. Following graduation from South Dakota, Slatt was an assistant strength coach for the Sioux Falls Stampede Junior Hockey Team, was a volunteer coach at Washington High School and most recently worked at Avera Sports Institute developing athletes in sprinting and jumping.
