Carrie Lane returns for her third year with the Nebraska track and field team in 2014, serving as the Huskers' throws coach.

In her second year with the Huskers, Lane coached Chad Wright to a runner-up finish in the discus at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships. He unleashed a personal-best throw of  209-1 (63.74) during the finals competition, earning first-team All-America honors and becoming the Big Ten's all-time leader in the event. Lane also coached Wright to a fifth-place finish in the shot put at the NCAA Championships, giving him two All-America accoaldes from the 2013 Championships. In addition, she was instrumental in leading Wright to his first conference crown as he won the shot put at the 2013 Big Ten Outdoor Championships with a personal-best throw of 63-7 1/2 (19.39).

Lane guided the Husker throwers to an impressive campaign in 2012, highlighted by NCAA discus champion Chad Wright. In addition to the NCAA title in her first year with NU, Lane also coached four athletes to first-team All-America accolades and one conference title.

Wright's top finish at the NCAA Championships resulted in the second-best discus throw in Husker history (206-0) and the longest throw in Division I in 2012. With the throw, he became Nebraska's 18th men's outdoor national champion. Wright was joined by Tyler Hitchler, as he earned his third-straight All-America honors in the men's discus at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships. On the women's side, Morgan Wilken finished eighth in the discus, securing her spot as a first-team All-American. Luke Pinkelman also earned All-America honors in the outdoor shot put, finishing third overall in his final year with the Huskers. In addition, Pinkelman earned second-team All-America accolades at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships following a successful showing at the 2012 Big Ten Indoor Championships where he earned the shot put title and became Lane's first Big Ten Conference champion at Nebraska.

Lane came to Nebraska bringing a solid list of accomplishments to the Husker program after spending the previous seven seasons at Virginia. Lane guided the Cavalier male and female throwers. Her experience and rise through the collegiate ranks has positioned her to guide the Husker throwers to national prominence.

In Lane's seven years at Virginia, she helped guide the Cavaliers to an Atlantic Coast Conference co-championship in 2009, while notching nine ACC individual titles and 14 additional top-three finishes in ACC competition.

The 2009 Southeast Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year and the 2004 Mondo National Women's Assistant Coach of the Year, Lane's athletes have earned 17 All-America titles, nine ACC titles, three NCAA East Region Championships and four Penn Relays titles. Lane also coached professional shot putter Adam Nelson (2006-09), when he earned a silver medal at the 2007 World Championships and had the world-leading shot put mark in 2008. At Virginia, Lane coached All-America discus thrower Billie-Jo Grant, the program's first four-time All-American in a single event. She also coached discus thrower Yemi Ayeni to three All-America awards and a fourth-place finish at the 2007 All-Africa Games. Prior to UVA, Lane spent five years at Coastal Carolina University. At CCU, she led hammer thrower Amber Campbell to five All-America honors and two American Collegiate records in the hammer and weight throw. Campbell also earned a bronze medal at the 2003 NACAC Championships. Lane's athletes have also earned 17 top-10 finishes at USATF National Championships.

Lane has also worked extensively within the USATF federation. She has been an assistant coach for the U.S. national team at the 2006 World Junior Championships and the 2009 and 2011 World Championships. In 2009, she represented the USA at the IAAF International Coaches' Conference in Kienbaum, Germany. Lane also served as the USATF junior girls javelin coordinator from 2006 to 2009.

She was also named the USTFCCCA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 2009, in addition to numerous other honors and certifications.

Lane's student-athlete's have earned 19 All-America awards, one NCAA title in 2012 and an NCAA runner-up finish in the men's discus in 2008

In addition, Lane was a graduate assistant coach for men's and women's cross country at Eastern Illinois University and also served as an academic coordinator at Marquette University.

Originally from the Midwest, Lane received her master's degree in physical education from Eastern Illinois in August 1999. She received her bachelor's degree and graduated cum laude in international affairs from Marquette in 1997.
