2009 (Junior)

Kyle Custer put together an impressive junior season, as he set four personal bests during the indoor season, another three during the outdoor season and qualified in two events for the NCAA Midwest Regional... opened the indoor season with a personal-best time of 14:51.58 at the Holiday Inn Invitational... finished first in the 3,000 meters the following week at the Conference Challenge with a personal-best time of 8:21.01... took second at the Nebraska Tune-Up in the 1,000 meters with a personal best of 2:26.75... ran a personal best of 4:07.61 in the mile twice during the year, first at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational and then again at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, where he finished sixth to earn his first individual All-Big 12 honor... clocked a personal-best time of 3:47.82 in the 1,500 meters at his first meet of the outdoor season, the Stanford Invitational... broke the 3,000-meter steeplechase NCAA regional-qualifying standard of 9:07.00 at the Nebraska Invitational, running a personal best of 9:04.90 to finish first...ended the regular season with a personal-best time of 1:54.93 in the 800 meters at the Concordia Twilight... finished ninth in the 1,500 meters at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with a regional-qualifying time of 3:50.41... competed in only the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet, finishing 14th.

 

2008 (Sophomore)

Custer continued to cut time across the board setting two personal bests during the indoor season and three during the outdoor season... started the indoor season with a win in the mile (4:17.30) at the Holiday Inn Invitational... finished fourth in the mile at the adidas Classic with a then-personal-best time of 4:12.81... set a then-personal best in the 1,000 meters at the Prairie Wolf Invite with a time of 2:29.07 to finish third... scored at his first Big 12 Championships by anchoring the eight place DMR... started the outdoor campaign with a second-place time of 9:34.23 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Jim Click Shootout, finishing behind teammate Brian Parr... set a then-personal best in the 800 meters at the John Jacobs Invitational (1:56.36)... won the 1,500 meters during back-to-back meets at the Ward Haylett Invitational and the Nebraska Invitational, including a then-personal best of 3:54.00 at the Nebraska Invitational.

 

2007 (Redshirt Freshman)

Custer dropped both his 1,500 (3:56.37) and mile (4:20.33) times... won the 1,500-meter individual title at the Nebraska Invitational with a time of 3:56.37.

 

2006 (Freshman)

Custer redshirted both indoor and outdoor seasons during his first year at Nebraska... competed unattached twice outdoors, recording a then personal-best 1,500-meter time of 3:59.57 at the Concordia Twilight.

 

Before Nebraska (Cambridge HS)

Custer arrived at NU following a tremendous prep career at Cambridge High School under Coach Dan Keyser... became the first athlete in state high school history (any class) to sweep the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter run events, as well as the 4x800-meter relay, as a senior at the 2005 Nebraska Class D state meet... boosted the Trojans to a team championship with his performance... anchored the fifth-place Class C 4x800-meter relay as a junior... as a sophomore, was third in the 3,200 and fifth in the 1,600... qualified for the state cross country meet three times, while winning the Class D state title as a senior in 2004... was a member of the National Honor Society.
