2005: Kayte Tranel (pronounced Katie Truh-NELL) redshirted during both indoor and oudoor seasons ... earned Nebraska’s first All-America honor in cross country since the 1993 season with a 28th-place finish at the 2005 NCAA Championships... competed unattached indoors at the Prairie Wolf Invitational, finishing second in the 5,000 meters (18:17.27). 2004: Tranel suffered a stress fracture in her foot to end her 2004 outdoor season... ran a 10,000-meter best of 35:37.97 in her first outdoor race at the Stanford Invitational... had an outstanding indoor campaign in which she set personal records in every race... finished eighth in the 5,000 meters at her first Big 12 Indoor Conference Championships in a personal-best time of 17:03.50... won gold in the 5,000 meters indoors at the Prairie Wolf Invitational (17:19.83), as well as outdoors at the KT Woodman Classic (17:54.58)... also claimed first in the outdoor 1,500 meters in a career-best 4:45.74 at the Concordia Invitational... began her indoor season by placing second in the Holiday Inn Invitational in the 5,000 meters in a then-career-low clocking of 17:30.25. 2003: Tranel dropped 16 seconds off her lifetime-best time in the 3,000 meters, 11 seconds in the 5,000 meters and 95 seconds off her 10,000-meter time in 2003... won the 3,000-meter run to open the season at the Wildcat Invitational... ran to a sixth-place finish and a career-best time of 10:04.29 in the 3,000 meters at the adidas Classic... clocked a 17:38.00 in the 5,000 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational... opened the outdoor season with a time of 35:50.10 in the 10,000 at the Stanford Invitational... finished sixth in the 10,000 (36:04.82) at the Drake Relays... finished 12th at the outdoor conference meet in the 10,000 (38:27.93). Hastings College: Tranel finished third at the NAIA Indoor Championships in the 5,000-meter run with a season-best time of 17:49.84... was second at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in the 10,000 meters and sixth in the 5,000 meters... three-time NAIA All-American... placed 28th at the 2001 NAIA Cross Country Championships. High School: Tranel won the Nebraska Class D 3,200 meters in 2000 (11:35.04) and 2001 (11:14.03)... took second place in the 1,600 meters at the outdoor state championships in 2000 and 2001... was third (12:13.12) in the 1999 Class D 3,200-meter run.
