A product of Lincoln Christian High School, Kathy Travis Miilller produced one of the most successful track and field careers for a Lincoln native at Nebraska. A four-year letterwinner in 1992, 1994, 1995 and 1996, Miiller won 12 Big Eight Conference titles and was a six-time All-American.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

As a true freshman in ’92, Miller started the indoor season with conference titles in the 55 meters, 200 meters and ran the opening leg of the winning 4x440 relay. Outdoors, she capture her fourth conference title in the 4x100 relay and added All-America honors in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. After missing the 1993 season, Miiller returned to win conference indoor titles in the 55 meters and 4x400 relay, as well as outdoor titles in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay. She also added her first indoor All-America award in the 4x400 relay.

 

While she didn’t win any conference titles in 1995, Miiller was again named an All-America relay member in the 4x100 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. As a senior in 1996, she swept the short sprints at the conference meets, winning the 55 and 200 meters indoors, as well as the 100 and 200 meters outdoors. After earning another 4x400 relay All-America honor during the ’96 indoor season, Miiller earned her first individual All-America honor at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a seventh-place finish in the 100 meters.

 

Miilller graduated in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education and computer science education. She earned her master’s in curriculum and instruction in 1997.
