2009 (Junior)
Following an injury-riddled sophomore campaign, Scott Wims looked to get back on track in 2009... started the indoor season at the Conference Challenge, winning the 60 meters (6.83) and finishing second in the 200 meters (21.50)... tied his indoor personal best in the 200 meters the following week at the adidas Classic, finishing second with a time of 21.50... took runner-up honors in the 200 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational (21.24)... opened the outdoor season with a runner-up finish in the 200 meters at the Jim Click Shootout, before taking first place in the 100 (10.46w) and second in the 200 (20.77) at the Nebraska Invitational... placed third in the invitational division of the 200 meters at the John McDonnell Invitational... ran the anchor leg of the 4x100-meter relay that took third at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships and fourth at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
2008 (Sophomore)
Wims started his second year at Nebraska strong before a hamstring injury at the Tyson Invitational during the indoor season sidelined him for the rest of the indoors and slowed him during outdoors... started the indoor campaign with a second-place showing in the 60 meters at the Holiday Inn Invite (6.94)... swept the 60 (6.79) and 200 (21.20) meters at the Conference Challenge, with a 200 time that was an indoor personal best and ranked fourth all-time at Nebraska indoors... finished runner-up at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in the 200 meters with a time of 21.31, trailing only Trey Harts of Baylor who went on to earn NCAA All-America honors in the 200 meters indoors... started the outdoor season at the Jim Click Shootout by running the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay that finished second... placed fourth at the John Jacobs Invitational in the 200 (21.25)... ran the anchor leg of the 4x200-meter relay that won the Kansas Relays with a time of 1:25.99... teamed with Dax Danns, Dan Christensen and Lukas Hulett to place fifth at the outdoor conference meet (40.21) and sixth at the NCAA Midwest Regional in the 4x100-meter relay (40.38).
2007 (Freshman)
Wims made a huge impact on the Husker sprint corps during his first season at Nebraska... led NU in both the 100- and 200-meter dash events, while running an occasional leg on NU’s young and talented 4x400-meter relay... tied for the No. 2 all-time mark at Nebraska in the outdoor 100 meters (10.24) and moved to No. 3 in the 200 meters (20.61)... earned his first individual All-America honor by placing seventh in the 200-meter dash (21.05) at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Championships...went on to win the 200 meters and finish runner-up in the 100 meters at the U.S. Junior Championships... gained a gold medal in the 200 meters and a bronze in the 100 meters at the Pan Am Junior Championships, while helping Team USA to a 4x100-meter victory... helped the Huskers place eighth in the 4x400-meter relay at the NCAA indoor meet for his first All-America honor... claimed a surprising victory in the 200 at the NCAA Midwest Regional in a then personal-best time of 20.66... set a then-career best of 10.35 in the 100 to earn fifth place and the final automatic bid to the national meet... posted his second career collegiate victory with his 200 win, matching the event crown he won earlier in the season during the Nebraska Open (21.07)... placed in four events at the Big 12 outdoor meet with fifth-place finishes in the 100, 200 and 4x400, as well as running the second leg on NU’s bronze-medal 4x100 relay... was the only Husker, male or female, to earn three All-Big 12 outdoor honors... reached the Big 12 200-meter finals by running a then-personal-best time of 20.67 during the prelims... hit the USATF “A” standard with the effort, which automatically qualified him for the 2007 USA Outdoor Championships... ran for the Husker 4x200-meter relay that broke the school record in 2007... relay squad first won the Kansas Relays in 1:23.12 before placing second the following week at the Drake Relays in 1:22.62... ran the lead-off leg for both squads... helped boost NU to a share of the Big 12 indoor men’s team title by placing third (6.77) in the 60-meter dash and fourth (21.06) in the 200 with personal-best times at the indoor conference meet in Ames, Iowa... also ran on the Huskers’ third-place 4x400 relay (3.07.90 oversize) to become the only Nebraska athlete to earn three All-Big 12 indoor honors in 2007... recorded his first career NCAA provisional qualification in the 200 during the Big 12 prelims with a mark of 21.14o... earned a victory in the 60 with a time of 6.89 at the Big 12-Mountain West Conference Challenge.
Before Nebraska (Northrop HS)
Wims emerged as one of the nation’s top prep sprinters as a senior under Coach Bob Shank... finished sixth in the 100-meter dash at the 2006 USA Junior Outdoor Championships in Indianapolis with a time of 10.46... posted his prep-best mark of 10.43 to win his qualifying heat... also competed in the USA junior 200-meter dash... was an alternate on the U.S. 4x100-meter relay that claimed a gold medal at the 2006 IAAF World junior meet in Beijing, but did not run during the competition... ran a personal-best 60-meter dash time of 6.94 during the semifinals at the 2006 Nike Indoor Nationals in Landover, Md., but did not reach the finals... swept the Indiana state titles in the 100 and 200 as a senior at Northrop High School with respective times of 10.46 and 21.15... also helped the Bruins to a fifth-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay and a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay... earned his first two state titles as a junior in 2005 with victories in the 200 (21.52) and 4x400-meter relay, while also placing fourth in the 100... competed in both the 200 and 4x100-meter relay during his first state meet appearance as a sophomore in 2003.
