Sammy Hansen contributed in the sprints and as a member of the Huskers' relay teams during her freshman year... ran in three meets during the indoor season and four during the outdoor season... earned the first All-Big honor of her career as a member of the seventh-place 4x100-meter relay at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships.

Before Nebraska (Southwest HS)
Sammy Hansen was a three-time state qualifier in Class A, Nebraska's largest class, under Coach Ryan Mahoney at Lincoln Southwest High School... earned four state medals as a senior... placed third in the 100 (12.38) and 200 (25.29) meters, while also running the first leg of both the fifth-place 4x100-meter relay and sixth-place 4x400-meter relay... member of the National Honor Society... chose Nebraska over Washington and Lee University, Texas, Georgetown, George Washington and Tulane.
