Sam Siegel threw the shot put at six meets during the indoor season and
passed 50 feet twice... posted a season best of 52-6 at the Frank Sevigne
Husker Invitational... competed just twice outdoors in the shot put... threw
48-11 1/2 at the Jim Click Shootout.
2009 (Redshirt Freshman)
Siegel improved during his first year in a Husker uniform, as he set
personal bests in the shot put both indoors and outdoors... started the indoor
season by breaking his previous best of 47-2 1/4 at the Holiday Inn
Invitational with a toss of 50-2 3/4... added 15 more inches the following week
at the NWU Invitational with a mark of 51-5 3/4... capped the indoor season
with a personal best of 54-8 3/4 at the Nebraska Tune-Up... opened the outdoor
season with a then-personal-best toss of 50-6 1/4 at the Stanford Invitational,
topping his previous best of 47-7... improved his personal best four more times
during the outdoor season, concluding with a throw of 54-3 1/4 at the Concordia
Twilight.
2008
(Freshman)
Siegel
redshirted his first season at Nebraska while focusing on the shot put both
indoors and outdoors... competed unattached at three meets during the indoor
season, throwing a season best of 47-2 1/4 at the Prairie Wolf Invitational...
lone competition of the outdoor season came at the Nebraska Open (47-7).

Siegel
concluded his high school career at the 2007 Nebraska Class A State Track and
Field Championships with a runner-up finish in the shot put with a
lifetime-best of 55-9 1/2 under Coach Ryan Mahoney... also placed seventh in
the discus (151-5)... at the 2006 state meet was fifth in the shot (55-9) and
sixth in the discus (156-7)... qualified for state as a sophomore but did not
score... unleashed a personal-best discus throw (165-4) to win the 2006 Lincoln
Public School championship.
