2009 (Freshman)
Matt Shipp competed as a Husker both indoors and outdoors in his first season... focused on the 600 yards during the indoor season, where he improved his time at all three of his meets... started with an eighth-place time of 1:13.54 at the adidas Classic... improved to a time of 1:13.41 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational... finished the indoor season at the ISU Classic with an oversized time of 1:12.87... ran the 800 meters at five outdoor meets... posted his season-best finish and time at the John McDonnell Invitational, where he placed second with a time of 1:54.50 in the invitational division.

Before Nebraska (Bertrand HS)
Shipp won one state championship as a senior at Bertrand High School and three state titles at Tri County High School in DeWitt, Neb., from 2005 to 2007... won the 800 meters at the Nebraska Class C state meet in 2006 and 2007... won the 800-meter All-Class gold medal in 2007 with a time of 1:54.29... earned 400-meter titles in Class C in 2007 and Class D in 2008... ran the second leg of the second-place 4x800-meter relay as a freshman... finished second in the 1,600 meters as a sophomore and was part of the second-place 4x400-meter relay and the 4x800-meter relay... competed at the Nebraska Class D State Cross Country meet all four years of high school... finished eighth as a sophomore... coached at Bertrand by Brad Renken... member of the National Honor Society... chose Nebraska over Nebraska-Kearney, Doane, Wayne State and Nebraska Wesleyan.
