2009 (Senior)

LeRon Williams (pronounced LEE-ron) made his first trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2009, returned to the outdoor national meet and finished in the top five at the Big 12 Championships both indoors and outdoors in the long jump... opened the indoor season at the adidas Classic with a winning jump of 24-4 1/4... finished in the top five at the next three meets before placing fourth at the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a personal-best jump of 25-6 1/4... tied him with teammate Chris Phipps for the tenth-best jump in the nation... placed 12th at the national meet with a leap of 24-5 1/2... started the outdoor season at the Jim Click Shootout, finishing second with a leap of 24-7... cleared a personal best of 25-5 1/2 at the Concordia Twilight to finish first... finished third at the conference outdoor meet with a jump of 25-3 1/2, his top finish at any conference meet... earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Outdoor Championships... placed 20th with a jump of 25-0 1/2... competed at the USA Championships, where he finished 22nd with a clearance of 24-5... leaves Nebraska as a five-time All-Big 12 jumper and is tied for seventh indoors and ninth outdoors on the all-time NU performance lists in the long jump.



2008 (Senior / Junior)

LeRon Williams (pronounced LEE-ron) capped his junior season in dramatic fashion by finishing fifth in the long jump at the NCAA Midwest Regional to qualify for his first NCAA Championship meet...  competed in four meets during the indoor season before suffering a leg injury and earning a medical hardship... finished first at the Conference Challenge in the long jump with a season-best indoor jump of 23-3 1/2... competed at nine meets during the outdoor season... jumped a career best of 24-11A in Boulder, Colo., at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships to finish fifth... qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional for the third time while at Nebraska... was unable to jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after suffering a leg injury during warm-ups of the preliminaries.

 

2007 (Junior)

Williams saw his progress in the jumps slow in 2007, but still managed to be a solid contributor for Nebraska... focused mainly on the long jump during the indoor season, tallying a season-best jump of 23-6 1/4 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite... competed in the triple jump just once, finishing 13th with a jump of 46-7 1/4 at the Big 12 Indoor Championships... redshirted during the outdoor season.

 

2006 (Sophomore)

Williams made progress in the horizontal jumps as a sophomore, capped by his second trip to the NCAA Midwest Regional in the long jump... earned fourth place at the Big 12 indoor meet with his second NCAA provisional-qualifying mark of the season... recorded his personal best (24-6 1/4) at the Tyson Invitational... reached his indoor best in the triple jump to finish 10th at the Big 12 indoor meet... placed 11th in the long jump at the regional meet with his outdoor personal best (24-4 1/2)... did not record a legal long jump mark at the Big 12 outdoor meet, but tied for ninth in the triple jump with a wind-aided leap of 47-7w... initially qualified for regionals with a ninth-place finish at the Drake Relays (24-3 1/2)... set a then-personal-best of 24-4 1/2 indoors at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite.

 

2005 (Freshman)

Williams made big strides in the long jump during his freshman year... finished fourth in the long jump at the Big 12 outdoor meet with his 24-11w... qualified for the Midwest Regional with the mark, where he placed 14th (23-4 1/2)... also competed in the triple jump at the Big 12 meet, placing 12th with a mark of 45-11 1/4... placed fifth in the U.S. Junior Championships long jump (23-7 1/2) with a previous outdoor personal best... finished 12th in the long jump (22-11) and 15th in the triple jump (43-7) at the Big 12 indoor meet... posted his indoor-season bests of 23-8 to finish third in the long jump at the Northern Iowa Invitational and 46-2 1/4 to earn third place at the Prairie Wolf Invitational... posted his outdoor-season best of 46-0 in the triple jump at the Nebraska Invitational.

 

Before Nebraska (Omaha Central HS)

Williams garnered a pair of silver medals at the 2004 Nebraska Class A state meet in the long jump (22-6) and triple jump (46-9 1/4) under Coach Jeff McCune...also ran on the 4x100-meter relay, which was disqualified... was seventh in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump in the 2003 Class A state meet... placed seventh in the 2004 adidas Outdoor Championships in Raleigh, N.C., with a personal-best 23-5 1/2... won the triple jump and was runner-up in the long jump at the 2004 Nebraska USATF Junior Olympics... leaped to two silver medals in the long jump (23-1 3/4) and triple jump (47-3 3/4) at the 2004 USA Youth Athletics Championships... was the 2003 USA Youth Athletics long jump champion with a wind-aided mark of 23-3 1/4.
