2005: Egle Uljas (pronounced EGG-lu OOL-jus) provided a boost in the middle distance and relay events in her first year at Nebraska... competed at the IAAF World Championships for Estonia in the 400 meters, running a 32nd-place time of 52.94 during the qualifying round... ran in the prelims of the 800 meters at the European Junior Championships, but her time of 2:05.73 did not qualify for the finals... advanced to the 800-meter finals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and led until the final straightaway... was disqualified after falling 30 meters from the finish line and taking out another competitor... ran a then-personal-best time of 2:04.29 during the semifinals to reach the final heat... was the runner-up finisher at the NCAA Midwest Regional (2:04.69)... earned sixth place in the 400 at the Big 12 outdoor meet (53.60), while also running on NU’s fifth-place 4x400-meter relay (3:39.07) and sixth-place 4x100-meter relay (45.18)... notched her career-best 800-meter time of 2:02.92 following the collegiate season at the Athletissima 2005 IAAF Super Grand Prix in Lausanne, Switzerland... claimed silver-medal honors indoors in the 400 at the Big 12 indoor meet in an indoor-best 53.61, while also running on NU’s fourth-place 4x400-meter relay (3:38.04)... opened her Husker career by winning the 600-yard run at the adidas Classic in a lifetime-best 1:20.65... started the outdoor season by winning the 800 at the ESU Relays (2:12.51)... also registered wins in the 800 at the Kansas Relays (2:08.87) and the 400 at the Nebraska Invitational (53.40)... ran on winning 4x400-meter relays indoors at the Husker Invitational (3:39.01) and Iowa State Classic (3:38.89).
