Brian Parr returned for the outdoor season after redshirting the 2007 cross country season and missing the 2008 indoor track and field season with an ankle injury... placed first at the Jim Click Shootout in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:28.49)... broke the nine-minute barrier at the Drake Relays to finish third and move to 10th all-time at Nebraska on the outdoor performance list with a personal best of 8:56.86... scored at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships for the second straight year with a seventh-place finish (9:33.37A)... ended the season at the NCAA Midwest Regional with a time of 9:00.16 to finish eighth.
2007 (Redshirt Freshman)
An NCAA Midwest Regional qualifier, Parr had a spectacular track season in the 3,000-meter steeplechase... finished third in the steeplechase at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships... his season-best time of 8:58.30 ranked eighth in the region during the regular season before finishing 10th at the Midwest Regional meet following a fall while near the leaders during the race... indoors, was the adidas Classic champion in the 1,000 meters with a career-best time of 2:28.00... set two more career bests that earned him runner-up finishes in the mile (4:11.41) at the Holiday Inn Invitational and in the 3,000 meters at the Big 12-Mountain West Conference Challenge... anchored the seventh-place distance medley relay at the Big 12 Indoor Championships.
2006 (Freshman)
Parr redshirted during both indoor and outdoor seasons in his first year at Nebraska... competed unattached in several meets, setting personal-best marks each time out... won the indoor mile (4:20.2) at the Nebraska Wesleyan Triangular and was eighth in the 3,000 (8:36.66) at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, both season bests... set personal bests outdoors in the 1,500 (3:51.84) and the steeplechase (9:21.81).
Before Nebraska (Fremont HS)
Parr led his Fremont team to Nebraska Class A team titls in both cross country and track his senior year under Coach Sean McMahon... ended a state record 11 consecutive team championships by Kearney with Fremont’s track title... claimed the 2005 All-Class gold medal in the 3,200-meter run (9:33.30), while adding a runner-up finish in the 1,600 meters (4:21.82) and anchoring the 4x800-meter relay to a second-place finish with the third-fastest time in state history (7:45.65)... as a junior was second in both the Class A 1,600 (4:18.08) and 3,200 (9:35.41) and anchored the 4x800-meter relay to fourth place... finished third (4:21.65) in the 1,600 as a sophomore... ran his personal best of 9:19.09 in the 3,200 at the Omaha North Invitational... was the 2004 All-Class gold medalist in cross country as a senior... was a member of the National Honor Society.
