With only one season of indoor and two seasons of outdoor eligibility remaining, Brett Suckstorf redshirted the 2009 indoor season so he could compete both indoors and outdoors in 2010... competed in the weight throw as an unattached athlete at five meets during the indoor season, finishing in the top two at four meets... racked up wins at the Nebraska Tune-Up (63-6 1/4) and the Wildcat Open, where he tossed a personal best of 64-9 3/4... excelled in the hammer throw during the outdoor season, as he finished in the top five at five of his six meets... surpassed the NCAA Regional qualifying standard of 186-4 at the WSC Wildcat Open with a winning throw of 191-1... earned his first All-Big 12 honor at the conference outdoor meet as part of a 3-4-5 Husker finish in the hammer throw... placed fifth with a personal-best toss of 193-2, the No. 10 mark on the all-time Husker performance list... fouled on all three attempts at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet.

 

Before Nebraska (Pierce HS/Wayne State)

Suckstorf transferred to Nebraska from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., and had one season of indoor and two seasons of outdoor eligibility remaining... was a key member in the throws area for the Wildcats during the 2008 indoor and outdoor seasons under Coach Josh Whisman... set the school record in the weight throw at the Iowa State Open with a toss of 59-3... finished third in the weight throw and fifth in the shot put at the NSIC Indoor Championships... set the school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 186-6 at the WSC Sunshine Invite... won conference championships in the hammer throw (181-1) and discus (150-7) at the 2008 NSIC Outdoor Championships... made his first trip to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw in 2008, fouling on all three attempts... competed in the discus at Pierce High School under Coach Doug Shelton... earned four letters in track and field, three in basketball and one in football.
