Brett Gooden ran in four meets during the indoor season in the 800 and 1,000 meters... recorded a personal best in the 800 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational with a time of 1:54.51... ran only the 800 during the outdoor season at five meets... ran a season best of 1:56.90 at the Kansas Relays.
2009 (Redshirt Freshman)
Gooden competed five times for the Huskers indoors and three times outdoors... focused on the 1,000 meters during the indoor season... posted a personal-best time of 2:31.70 at the Nebraska Tune-Up to finish eighth... ran the 800 meters outdoors... improved his time at every meet, starting with a 1:55.88 at the Nebraska Invitational... clocked a 1:55.36 at the Nebraska Quad and then concluded the year with a time of 1:54.77 at the Concordia Twilight.
2008 (Freshman)
Gooden redshirted during the indoor and outdoor seasons in his first year at Nebraska to adjust to running the 800 meters at the collegiate level... competed unattached in the 800 twice during the indoor season, posting a then-personal-best time of 1:57.04 at the NWU Invitational... competed once during the outdoor season at the Nebraska Open with a time of 1:59.70.
Before Nebraska (Chase County HS)
Gooden joined the Husker middle distance runners after a solid prep career at Chase County High School in Imperial, Neb., under Coach Carl Zuege... at the 2007 Nebraska Class B State Track and Field Championships, finished second in the 800-meter run (1:57.68), led off the silver medal 4x400-meter relay and anchored the 4x800-meter relay to a sixth-place finish... ran the same three events at the 2006 state meet and set a personal best in the 800 (1:57.43), while running the lead-off legs of the 4x400 and 4x800 relays, which finished second and fourth, respectively.
