2005: Becky Breisch (pronounced BRY-sh) redshirted both indoor and outdoor seasons while rehabbing from elbow surgery, but recovered in time to compete unattached during the outdoor season... won her first national title in the discus with a throw of 206-5 at the USATF Championships in Carson, Calif.... competed in the discus at her first World Championships, finishing 18th in the qualifying round with a spin of 187-6... set an Ed Weir Stadium record with her personal-best mark of 208-5 at the Nebraska Invitational... claimed first at the Drake Relays (202-9)... also threw the shot put at the USATF meet, finishing fifth with a throw of 58-0 1/2... currently ranked 16th in the IAAF world rankings for the discus, the second American on the list. 2004: Breisch continued her amazing career by winning her second career outdoor NCAA title, and first in the discus, with a toss of 204-5... collected her second bronze with a throw of 58-3 3/4 in the shot put... just missed making the U.S. Olympic team after placing fourth in the discus at the U.S. Olympic Trials in July... also placed 11th in the shot put at the Trials... got off to a stellar start to the 2004 outdoor season, going undefeated in the shot put and discus until the Big 12 Outdoor Championships at the end of April... won the 2004 NCAA Midwest Regional discus by nearly 30 feet, with a throw of 207-1, which broke the Nebraska school and regional record... earned silver in the shot put at the regional meet with a toss of 56-3 1/4... won her fifth consecutive league title in the shot with a throw of 56-9 1/2 at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, after failing to record a mark the previous day in the discus... threw an Ed Weir Track Stadium record 204-7 in the discus at the Nebraska Quadrangular... was named the Big 12 Athlete of the Week on April 12 for winning the Concordia Invitational with marks of 192-6 in the discus and 57-5 in the shot put... won the shot put and discus in elite fields at the Texas Relays with tosses of 185-4 in the discus and 57-4 1/4 in the shot... was honored by the U. S. Track Coaches Association as the Mondo Athlete of the Week after winning both events at the College Station Relays to open the outdoor season... won silver in the shot put with a throw of 56-10 1/4 at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Championships for her best career indoor finish... opened the season with a win in the shot at the Panther Open with an NCAA automatic-qualifying throw of 54-5 1/4... won the Holiday Inn Invitational with a toss of 54-8... was named Big 12 Athlete of the Week on Feb. 2 for her winning throw of 55-1 1/2 at the Tiger Classic, which set a new Hearnes Field House record... after four days of practice in the weight throw, won the Prairie Wolf Invitational with a toss of 60-5 3/4... came back the next day at the adidas Classic to win the weight throw again with a mark of 60-3 and set a new indoor career-best mark of 56-10 1/4 in the shot put... won her first career Big 12 title in the women’s weight throw with an NCAA provisional-qualifying mark of 65-2 1/4... claimed her second Big 12 Indoor title in the shot put with a throw of 55-4 1/4. 2003: Breisch built an astonishing resume as a sophomore, winning an NCAA championship in the outdoor shot put and a bronze in the discus, three Big 12 Championships, two NCAA Midwest Regional Championships and three All-America awards... at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Breisch threw a mark of 58-3 1/4 on her fifth toss to win the NCAA shot put crown... took third place in the discus at nationals with a throw of 179-10... won NCAA Regional titles in the shot put (57-6 1/4) and the discus (181-5)... took Big 12 Outdoor crowns in the discus (180-10) and the shot put (55-11)... unleashed a then-school-record throw of 192-7 to win the Texas Relays discus title... wrapped up the outdoor season with a fifth-place finish in the shot put (57-3) and a seventh-place finish in the discus (190-8) at the USA Championships... threw a mark of 58-1 in the shot put to win the Ward Haylett Invitational... earned All-America honors at the 2003 NCAA Indoor Championships with a sixth-place finish in the shot put (54-4)... won the Big 12 Indoor title in the shot put with a throw of 56-4 1/2. 2002: Breisch had a great freshman season, claiming two All-America honors and a Big 12 championship... finished second in the discus at the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Championships with a mark of 181-11... finished eighth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the shot put with a mark of 53-11... broke the Big 12 Outdoor Championships record in the discus with a throw of 182-8... best outdoor performance of the season in the shot came at the Stanford Invitational (54-8)... was second in the shot put at the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a season-best mark of 53-8 1/4... finished 17th at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a mark of 49-9. High School: Won the shot put (46-9 3/4) and discus (158-3) at the 2001 Michigan Division 3 state meet... her mark in the discus set a new all-class state meet record and ranked 10th among U.S. prep athletes in 2001... also won the discus (155-5) at the Midwest Meet of Champions... her prep-best mark of 48-4 1/2 at the Midwest Meet of Champions ranked eighth among prep athletes in 2001... was the 2001 Michigan Gatorade Athlete of the Year... also claimed state titles in the shot put and discus in 1999 (42-8 1/2; 151-5) and 2000 (48-2 1/2; 156-11)... set state indoor record in shot put (47-2) in 2000... posted the second-longest Michigan prep throw of all time in both the shot put and discus.
