Following a redshirt season in 2009, Adam Wolkins was the Huskers' top javelin thrower in 2010... topped 220 feet at nine of his ten meets... broke his previous best of 232-5 at the Nebraska Open with a toss of 233-9... was less than three feet shy of also breaking the Ed Weir Stadium record of 236-8... improved his personal best again at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with a runner-up toss of 240-6... became the first Husker on the men's side since Artur Wszelaki in 2003 to earn All-America honors in the javelin... threw 228-6 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships to finish seventh.
2009 (Junior)
Adam Wolkins sat out the 2009 indoor and outdoor seasons to adjust to the Division I level... competed once as an unattached athlete during the outdoor season at the Nebraska Invitational... posted the top javelin throw with a toss of 222-0.
Before Nebraska (Shelburne Regional HS/Cowley CC)
Wolkins joined Nebraska after winning two NJCAA javelin national championships at Cowley Community College under Coach Mark Phillips... holds the Cowley school record with a toss of 232-5 at the 2008 NJCAA Championships... school-record throw surpassed runner-up finisher Tyler Drake of Hutchinson Community College by more than 16 feet in the final... toss would have placed fifth at the 2008 NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships... competed as a prep in the javelin at Shelburne Regional High School in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada... was a four-time district champion, two-time regional champion and four-time provincial champion, winning the Canadian Junior Nationals as a senior... qualified for the Pan-American Junior Games, finishing seventh... finished second at the 2008 Canadian Olympic Trials (220-7; 67.24)... chose Nebraska over Houston.
