2022-23: Senior
In her senior season, Samantha Alicea competed in 27 singles matches, posting a 19-8 overall record, including a 15-2 mark in the spring. She played in three different positions, tallying a 3-1 mark at No. 4, a 9-0 record at No. 3 and a 3-1 mark at No. 2. In doubles action, Alicea earned a 19-3 overall record with her partners Raphaëlle Lacasse and Anfisa Danilchenko. With her doubles partner, Lacasse, she posted a 16-1 doubles record. On April 18, the duo broke into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) doubles rankings at the No. 89 spot. One week later, on April 25, Alicea and Lacasse moved up to No. 45 in the ITA doubles rankings. 
 
She closed out her career with the Huskers by earning a Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor and was named to the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. 

2021-22: Junior 
In her junior season, Alicea competed in 24 singles matches, posting a 15-9 overall singles record and an 11-7 record in the spring, tying for third on the team in overall wins. She competed at three different singles positions, tallying a 6-4 mark at No. 5, a 4-3 record at No. 4, and a 4-1 record in the No. 6 spot. In doubles action, Alicea competed with Ellie Kuckelman in all of her 17 matches and finished the season with a 10-4 spring record. 
 
Off the court, Alicea earned Academic All-Big Ten honors and was named to the 2022 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. 

2020-21: Junior 
In her first year playing for the Huskers, the junior transfer from Arizona State saw action during the spring season in both singles and doubles matches. Alicea went 1-2 in singles play, with an impressive win over Maryland’s Ebony Sampson (6-3, 6-3) at the Big Ten Tournament in the No. 6 position. On the doubles side, Alicea teamed up with Kristina Novak for a 2-2 record, winning at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.

Off the court, Alicea earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2021. She was also a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

Before Nebraska 
Alicea joined the Huskers after spending two seasons at Arizona State. During her time as a Sun Devil, Alicea went 7-7 in singles and 18-3 in doubles. The Miami, Fla., native finished 2019 ranked No. 85 in doubles. She closed out the 2019 season on a 12-match winning streak.

Before college, Alicea was ranked No. 45 nationally and No. 4 in the state of Florida according to tennisrecruiting.net 

Why Samantha Chose Nebraska 
"I chose Nebraska because of the amazing atmosphere between the team and coaches. As soon as I met the team I felt like I was already part of the Husker family. Not to mention how amazing the facilities are, I know I would have all the resources I will need to succeed on and off the court."

Personal
An Academic All-Big Ten selection as a psychology major in 2022 and 2023, Alicea is a three-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll choice. She is also a four-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. She earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2023.
