2016-17 (Freshman)
Olivia Appleget competed in nine different events during her first season at Nebraska. She placed in the top five twice during the 2016-17 season. Her highest finishes came from Nebraska's dual victory against South Dakota State, when she took third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.01) and fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:15.34). Appleget set a trio of career bests at the 2017 Big Ten Championships in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.05), 100-yard butterfly (58.03) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.69). Appleget had a strong year in the classroom, earning spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2016-17. She was also a member of the 2017 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Previous
Appleget helped Coach Mike Witt and Lincoln Pius X land a third-place finish at the Nebraska Class A State Girls Swimming and Diving Championships in 2016. Appleget was a 12-time top-eight finisher at the state championships, while earning three letters in swimming. She also aided club coach Norma Balogh and the Lincoln Select Swimming Team to 13 consecutive age-group state meet championships. An academic all-state selection, Appleget was also a member of National Honor Society at Lincoln Pius X.
Personal
The daughter of Carin and Andrew Appleget, Olivia was born Oct. 31, 1997, in San Diego, Calif. She has an older sister, Avery, and six brothers, Noah, AJ, Isaac, Jake, Manny and Nate. An English major, Olivia earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2016-17. She was a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2017. She chose Nebraska over Seattle University, Colorado State and College of St. Benedict's.
