2010 (Sophomore/Junior)
Lorena Menghia (pronounced laur-AA-nah Men-GEE-uh) made the transition to a combined-events athlete during her second year at Nebraska in 2010... competed in her first pentathlon as a Husker at the ISU Classic where she scored 3,386 points to finish seventh... scored at the Big 12 Indoor Championships for the second straight year in the high jump with a leap of 5-7 1/4, tying her for seventh... placed sixth at the Kansas Relays in the outdoor pentathlon with a score of 4,716... improved the score by nearly 200 points at the conference outdoor meet to place fifth with 4,903 points.

2009 (Redshirt Freshman/Sophomore)
Menghia joined the Huskers in January... made her debut at the Conference Challenge, finishing third in the triple jump at 39-9 1/4... set a personal best the following week at the adidas Classic with a runner-up jump of 39-10 3/4... competed in the high jump at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, clearing 5-6 to tie for fifth... was limited during the outdoor season due to a back injury... cleared 5-7 in the high jump at the Nebraska Quad to finish third.

Before Nebraska (Athletic High School/Jacksonville State)
A native of Iasi, Romania, Menghia transferred to Nebraska after competing outdoors at Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala., where she was the 2008 Ohio Valley Conference champion in the high jump with a clearance of 5-6 under Coach Adrian Gheoroaie... set the outdoor school record earlier in the season with a leap of 5-8 3/4 at the Coach O Invitational in Troy, Ala... placed third in the triple jump at the outdoor conference meet with a school-record and personal-best leap of 40-3 1/4... went on to compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional in Fayetteville, Ark., in the high jump, but was unable to clear the opening height... cleared a lifetime best in the high jump at the 2006 Romanian indoor championships in Bucuresti, Romania, with a jump of 6-0 1/2 to finish runner-up, ranking her No. 12 on the under-20 world indoor list... cleared an outdoor personal best of 5-10 3/4 four times between 2005 and 2007... tied for 13th with a jump of 5-7 in the high jump at the 2005 IAAF World Youth Championships in Marrakesh, Morocco... attended Athletic High School where she was coached by Ghilase Marius... chose Nebraska over SMU, Florida Atlantic and Virginia.

Parents are Dan and Lily Menghia... born on June 12, 1988... majored is management... earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in August of 2012.
