2007 (Junior)
Ben Schutter (pronounced Skutter) made his first appearance in the NCAA Indoor Championships heptathlon... it was the first Husker entry in the event since Chris Richardson competed in the 2004 meet... injury in the first event made it impossible to continue on in the event... recorded his career-best heptathlon (5,474) to win the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational for the second straight year, recording individual bests in the 60-meter hurdles (8.33) and shot put (48-8 1/4)... despite entering the Big 12 heptathlon with the second best score prior to the meet, could not compete due to family matters... set a personal record in the 60-meter dash (7.07) at the Holiday Inn Invitational... outdoors, injuries limited him to only one competition, the John Jacobs Invitational, where he threw a career-best 130-9 in the discus.

2006 (Sophomore)
Schutter put together a standout season in the multi-events in his first year at Nebraska... just missed qualifying for both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships, as his indoor heptathlon and outdoor decathlon scores ranked 24th and 30th nationally... 16 and 26 individuals were selected for the respective national meets... placed eighth in the heptathlon at the Big 12 indoor meet after setting individual event bests in the 1,000-meter run and high jump... posted his personal-high score to win the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational heptathlon and earn his first career NCAA provisional qualification... set event bests in the pole vault, long jump and shot put... recorded other career bests in the 60-meter dash at the Nebraska Wesleyan Triangular and 60-meter hurdles at the Tyson Invite... earned seventh place in the decathlon at the Big 12 outdoor meet with a lifetime-best point total... set individual event bests in the 100- and 400-meter dashes, 1,500 meters, 110-meter hurdles, pole vault and long jump during the competition... recorded a career-best in the high jump while placing seventh (6,707) in the decathlon at the Audrey J. Walton Decathlon... also set event bests in the shot and javelin at the Doane Relays and the discus at the Ward Haylett Invite.
