Defensive end Keona Wilhite is Nebraska’s final scholarship signee of the 2024 class. Wilhite joins the Huskers after a strong prep career at Salpointe High School in Tucson, Ariz. The 6-5, 240-pound defensive end helped Coach Pat Ryden’s team to a 10-3 record in 2023, with Salpointe High reaching the semifinals of the Class 6A state playoffs. Wilhite recorded 60 tackles as a senior, including 18.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks. He added four pass breakups and an interception that he returned for 74 yards. Wilhite was an honorable-mention Class 6A all-state selection by the Arizona Republic and was a first-team all-conference selection in 2023. Wilhite played in six games during the 2022 season and made 24 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. His play helped Salpointe High to a 7-5 record and a trip to the state quarterfinals. Wilhite is a consensus choice as one of the top 15 players in Arizona. He is ranked as high as the No. 24 edge in the nation by Rivals.com. Wilhite was originally committed to Washington and had offers from UCLA, Arizona, Colorado and Michigan State among others.
