2004-05 Review
Junior Nicole Aleo (pronounced Ay-LEE-o) ended her Husker tenure with three letters and two NCAA titles. She competed in three tournaments during her junior year, with her best finish at the Mankato Invitational where she placed 12th with a 171 average. She was on the roster for the NCAA Championships, but did not compete.
2003-04 Review
Aleo served primarily in a backup role for Coach Straub during the 2003-04 season, competing in one tournament. She placed 14th in her only appearance in the Husker lineup at the Whitewater Invitational, where she averaged a 188.833 over six games. She was on the travel roster for the Holiday Collegiate Classic and the NCAA Championships, but did not compete.
2002-03 Review
Aleo turned in a solid freshman campaign, providing depth to a talented lineup. She averaged a 183.68 in 25 games, appearing in six of the Huskers’ nine regular-season tournaments. She bowled in three or more games on five occasions, including a career-high average of 200.75 over four games at the Leatherneck Classic. Aleo turned in her best performance during regionals, turning in career highs in pinfall (1,687) and games (nine) en route to a 16th-place showing.
Before Nebraska/Personal
Aleo attended Oakland University for a year before transferring to NU. She was one of the best bowlers in the state of Michigan as a high schooler. She was a 10-time tournament finalist and four-time winner in the Michigan Junior Masters Association and was chosen as the league rookie of the year in 2001. She averaged a 191 and bowled a pair of 299 games during her high school career. As a senior, she also led Adlai Stevenson High School to a state title in 2001. The daughter of Sam and Jan Aleo, she has two brothers, Sam and Joey, and was born on May 1, 1983. Aleo majors in business administration at Nebraska and was on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the spring of 2003.
