2006-07 Review
Kalyn (pronounced KAY-LYNN) Washburn became a Husker in 2005 after an impressive prep career in Tucson, Ariz. Washburn redshirted during her freshman season and continues to progress in her bowling development. In addition to her athletic success, Washburn excels academically for the Huskers as she made the 2006 Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll. She is also a current member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Although Washburn did not compete in any 2006-07 tournaments, Nebraska Coach Bill Straub looks for Washburn to become important to Nebraska’s future bowling successes.

Before Nebraska
Washburn was an all-around athlete in her junior days at Mountain View High School in Tucson, Ariz. After her volleyball, basketball and soccer seasons concluded, she picked up bowling at age 17. Washburn was a second-team all-region volleyball player and an honorable mention all-region basketball player. She also played on the Dinamo club soccer team and was an assistant coach for junior high basketball.

Personal
The daughter of Scott and Melinda Washburn, Kalyn was born on Oct. 18, 1986, in Tucson, Ariz. She graduated from Mountain View High School in 2005, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, National Honor Roll and Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She has three brothers, Matt, Danny and Alex.
