2011-12 (Senior)
NCAA Championships
No. 11 seed Tucker Lane lost 4-2 to Maciej Jochym of Cornell in his first match at the NCAA Championships, falling into the wrestleback bracket. Lane responded by reeling off three straight victories, including a sudden victory over Michigan's Ben Apland.
Lane was matched up against No. 10 seed Michael McMullan of Northwestern in the following round, falling by a 4-3 decision. Lane finished with a 3-2 record in his fourth NCAA Championships appearance.
Big Ten Championships
Lane, the No. 4 seed, took seventh place at the Big Ten Championships, going 2-2. After a bye in the first round, Lane was defeated by No. 5 seed McMullan from Northwestern by fall. Lane came back in his next match to beat Illinois' Patrick Walker in a 4-0 decision.
Following an 11-7 loss to Indiana's Adam Chalfant in the following round, Lane won by decision over Wisconsin's Cole Tobin in the seventh-place match.
Regular Season
Lane opened his senior campaign with a 6-2 record before reeling off 11 straight victories, including two over top-10 opponents. Lane recorded 20 takedowns and tied Jake Sueflohn for the team high with 52 dual points. Lane earned a 15-4 dual record and achieved a 27-9 record overall.
In his final regular-season match, Lane became the 20th member of Nebraska's 100-victory club with his 6-1 win over Northern Iowa's Blayne Beale. Lane also achieved success in the classroom, earning first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, Capital One first-team Academic All-District VII accolades and was named to the academic All-Big Ten team.
2010-11 (Junior)
NCAA Championships
Wrestling in his third NCAA Tournament, the No. 11 seed Lane came one match short of reaching All-America status after winning his first two bouts. The Redvale, Colo., native defeated Buffalo's Brett Cornell in the first round before taking down Brendan Barlow, 4-2, in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals.
Matched up against the No. 3 seed Kevin Flores from American, Lane couldn't pull off the upset dropping a 5-2 decision to fall into the wrestleback bracket. Lane was knocked from the tournament by Maryland's Spencer Myers to finish with a 2-2 record.
Big 12 Championships
Lane went 2-1 at the Big 12 Championships to propel him to his third consecutive third-place finish at the conference tournament. Oklahoma's Nathan Fernandez upset Lane in his first match winning by pin in 3:56, but Lane won two consecutive matches to end the tournament.
Lane defeated Blake Rosholt of Oklahoma State by decision, 7-2, before claiming a forfeit victory over Kyle Simonson of Iowa State.
Regular Season
Lane opened his season with two tournament titles at the Daktronics/Warren Williamson Open and the Cowboy Open to propel him to an 8-0 record. His first loss came against No. 10 Ryan Tomie of Pitt in the opening dual match of the season, but Lane bounced back to win six of his next seven matches, including a 2-0 decision over No. 12 Clayton Jack of Oregon State for his first victory over a ranked opponent during the season.
One of Lane's most impressive performances came at the Lone Star Duals in Dallas, where he went 3-0 with a pin, technical fall and major decision. Those results helped Lane finish the year with four pins, one technical fall and three major decisions, while also helping him finish with 56 total team dual points, which was second on the team behind Jordan Burroughs.
In Big 12 dual competition, Lane won three of four matches with victories over No. 10 Nathan Fernandez of Oklahoma, Blake Rosholt of Oklahoma State and Iowa State's Kyle Simonson. Lane concluded the regular season with a 23-6 mark, including a 14-5 record in dual matches. The heavyweight recorded 27 takedowns in dual competition, while only surrendering four.
Off the mat, Lane earned second-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and collected his bachelor's degree in May of 2011. He was a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and a first-team academic All-Big 12 honoree.
2009-10 (Sophomore)
NCAA Championships
Lane went 1-2 in his second straight NCAA Championship appearance. The sophomore began the tournament with a 2-1 win over Virginia's John Danilkowicz before running into a pair of tough opponents. Against No. 4 Konrad Dudziak of Duke, Lane dropped a 4-3 decision, before falling in overtime, 3-1, to No. 7 Jarod Trice of Central Michigan.
Big 12 Championships
Lane finished third at the conference tournament for the second consecutive year. Facing a pair of top-15 ranked opponents, Lane defeated No. 14 Nathan Fernandez of Oklahoma in a first round overtime battle, 3-1. He then came up short against No. 1 Jared Rosholt of Oklahoma State, 5-3, before coming back to defeat Fernandez again, 3-1.
Regular Season
Lane produced another 20-plus win season in his second year as Nebraska's heavyweight starter. The sophomore was 23-12 overall, including a 12-8 mark in duals. He had identical bonus victory numbers as 2008-09 with three pins, one technical fall and one major decision.
Lane began the season on fire by winning his first six matches. He finished first at the Kaufman-Brand Open in Omaha and delivered a critical season-opening win over Eric Bugenhagen of Wisconsin. Lane did not lose his first match until Nov. 28 against No. 6 Zach Rey of Lehigh. Despite the setback, Lane rattled off six straight victories until he fell in the championship match of the Las Vegas Invitational to No. 10 Nate Everhart of Indiana.
Lane went 8-7 the rest of the regular season, but lost four of those matches in either overtime or by only one point. After defeating No. 13 Nathan Fernandez of Oklahoma in the semifinals of the Las Vegas Invite, Lane downed the Sooner again Feb. 4 in the dual against Oklahoma.       Â
2008-09 (Freshman)
NCAA Championships
Lane posted a 2-2 mark in his first career appearance at the NCAA Championships. He took No. 19 Kyle Massey of Wisconsin into the second tiebreaker in the first round, but lost a 4-3 decision. Lane rebounded with a 6-0 win over Ricardo Alcala from UC-Davis and a 4-2 sudden victory against North Carolina's Justin Dobies. Lane was eliminated by East Stroudsburg's Christopher Birchler, 4-3.
Big 12 Championships
The fourth seed at the Big 12 Championships, Lane posted a 2-1 record, including a 3-2 upset of third-ranked Jared Rosholt of Oklahoma State to finish third. Lane also defeated OU's Nathan Fernandez in the pigtail round before losing to top-ranked David Zabriskie of Iowa State in overtime.
Regular Season
In his first year as a starter at heavyweight, Lane posted a 28-14 record, including 13-8 in duals. He had three pins, one technical fall and one major decison to tie for the seventh best record by an NU freshman ever.
Lane opened with a second-place finish at the Daktronics Open on Nov. 8 behind a 3-1 record, and quickly picked up his first career dual victory on Nov. 20 against Cody Sliger of Chattanooga. Lane went 3-0 to place first at the Kaufman-Brand Open on Nov. 22, including an upset of No. 18 Ben Berhow of Minnesota. Lane climbed into the rankings for the first time after a fourth-place showing at the Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 6. Lane was 5-2 at the tournament, including two wins over ranked foes.
Lane posted back-to-back dual wins on Jan. 4, before going 3-1 at National Duals. His decisions over Northwestern's Ben Kuhar and Penn State's Cameron Wade gave Nebraska wins over the Wildcats and Nittany Lions in the first and second rounds, respectively. He lost to No. 12 Dan Erekson of Iowa in the semifinals, but defeated third-ranked Dave Zabriskie of Iowa State in the consolation final. His efforts earned him Big 12 Wrestler-of-the-Week honors.
Lane went 5-6 to finish the regular season, but battled some tough opponents. Two of those losses came to opponents ranked in the top three in the nation. Lane was able to secure a key decision against Central Michigan on Jan. 25. Wrestling in the last match of the day, his 5-4 win over Jarod Trice gave NU a 17-17 tie in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
2007-08 (Redshirt)
Regular Season
Lane capped a standout redshirt season at heavyweight with 2008 NU Redshirt-of-the-Year honors after his 27-3 campaign.
Competing in seven open tournaments, Lane laid claim to four titles, one second place and two third-place finishes. His seven pins placed him second on the team and paced him to first at the Cowboy Open, Kaufman-Brand Open, Bob Smith Open and Dana Open.
Despite finishing first at more than half of his competitions, the highlight of Lane's season came during his third-place finish at the Brand Open on Jan. 19. Lane suffered a 4-2 overtime loss to open the tournament, but rebounded with five straight dominating victories. Lane pinned two of those opponents, notched a 13-0 major decision, won a 6-0 decision and came out on top of a 6-3 contest. Lane allowed just three combined points in the five matches.
Before Nebraska
Lane was a three-time state champion at Nucla High School under the direction of Coach Larry Lane. He also was a four-time Junior All-American, and was recognized by Intermat as a four-star recruit. Lane was also accomplished in the classroom. He earned a 31 on his ACT and graduated as the valedictorian of his class with a 4.25 grade-point average.
Personal Information
The son of Larry and Gwen Lane, Tucker was born on June 4, 1988. He has one sister, Mollie, and one brother, Stryker. Tucker was a communication studies major and earned his bachelor's degree in May of 2011, competing during his senior season in 2012 as a graduate student. Lane was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America selection at Nebraska, claiming first-team honors in 2012, after capturing secont-team accolades in 2011. He also received a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship worth $7,500 following the 2012 season.
Larry Lane wrestled collegiately at the University of Northern Colorado and was on the All-Army wrestling team. Larry went on to wrestle professionally from 1973 to 1983 as 'Red Dog Lane' and 'Cowboy Larry Lane'.
