2021-22: Sophomore
Ellie Kuckelman saw action during the spring season in both singles and doubles matches. Ellie Kuckelman went 5-4 in singles play. On the doubles side, Kuckelman teamed up with Samantha Alicea for a 13-4 record, winning at both the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
Off the court, Kuckelman earned Academic All-Big Ten honors and was a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
2020-21: Sophomore
Kuckelman missed all of the 2020-21 season due to injury.
Off the court, Kuckelman was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and an Academic All-Big Ten selection. She also earned a prestigious Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award and was a member of the 2021 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
2019-20: Freshman (Year of Eligibility Restored Due to COVID-19 Pandemic)
Kuckelman began her Husker career in impressive fashion during a freshman season shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kuckelman posted a 12-6 overall record in singles play, including a 9-2 mark during the spring. Her 12 overall singles victories ranked third on the team, while her nine spring victories tied for the team high. In doubles play, Kuckelman's 13 overall wins ranked second on the team, while her 10 wins during the spring season tied for the team high. Ellie teamed up with her twin sister Chloe to post an 11-4 overall record, including an 8-3 mark in the spring, leading Nebraska in doubles victories. Ellie also paired up with two other teammates for doubles play, posting a 1-1 record in those two matches matches.
During the fall, Kuckelman competed at the ITA Central Regionals, going 2-0 in qualifying singles without dropping a set to move to the round of 128. At the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic, she and her sister advanced to the doubles championship. The duo defeated teams from Michigan, Appalachian State and Oklahoma State before falling to Florida in the final. In spring singles competitions, Kuckelman's impressive 9-2 record included a 2-0 mark at the No. 4 singles spot, a 5-1 record at the No. 5 spot and a 2-1 mark out of the No. 6 spot. She began the spring with three straight singles victories and ended her freshman season with six straight wins against TCU, Iowa State, Rutgers in her Big Ten debut, Wichita State, Kansas State and Wyoming. The Kuckelman twins also went 8-3 in doubles play during the spring, winning their final six doubles matches of the season.
Before Nebraska
Playing for Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kan., Kuckelman won the 2017 6A Singles Championship, defeating her sister Chloe 6-4, 6-4. Outside of high school, Ellie achieved a 28-11 overall record playing club tennis for Kansas City United as well as an 11-3 record vs. fellow four-star players.
Personal
Ellie is the daughter of Craig and Mickie Kuckelman. Ellie has a twin sister, Chloe, who was also a member of the Nebraska women's tennis team, as well as an older sister, Brooke. A journalism major, Ellie earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2023. She was a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten choice. She was a seven-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. She claimed a prestigious Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award in 2021, and is a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
