2022-23 (Redshirt Senior)
Gwen Maeha competed in a career-high 21.4 regular-season games in her final season at Nebraska. She produced a 186 average with a total of 148 pocket hits. As one of three co-captains, Maeha gave an impressive 18.41 Avg/Frame with an overall fill percentage of 75.5 percent. Maeha enjoyed a season high game of 223 at the Prairie View A&M Invite, competing at five of the nine tournaments this season.
2021-22 (Junior)
Maeha competed in eight tournaments for the Huskers and enjoyed her best collegiate season. She averaged a 202.3 in 19 games, raising her traditional average by more than six pins per game over the previous season. She averaged 200 or better three times, including a season-best 205.4 at the Motiv Ladyjack Classic to finish 21st. She also placed 14th at the Stormin’ Blue & White Vegas Classic after averaging a 204.0 over five games. She turned in a solid performance at the NCAA Regional with a 204.5 average, including a 255 game. In Baker format, she averaged 19.83 per frame and striking out over 46 percent of her attempts. She was also recognized for her work in the community, as she received the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award in 2022.
2020-21 (Redshirt Sophomore)
Maeha patiently waited for her opportunity to bowl for the Huskers and earned a spot in the lineup at the Prairie View Invitational. At the event, Maeha bowled a 201.00 over five games to earn her first career top-10 finish, placing seventh. She averaged 191.00 at the NCAA Championships to help the Huskers to the national title. Maeha finished the season with a 196.00 average. In the classroom, she earned Academic All-Big Ten honors for the third consecutive season. She was also a member of the 2021 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
2019-20 (Redshirt)
Maeha redshirted during the 2019-20 campaign, as she continued to make improvements in her game. She was a standout in the classroom, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors, and was named to the NTCA All-Academic Team in 2020.
2018-19 (Freshman)
Maeha made two tournament appearances for the Huskers as a true freshman, competed for the Big Red at the SFA Stormin’ Ladyjack Invitational and at the NCAA Championships. She averaged a 135.8 in baker format. She earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2018, and was a member of the 2019 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Before Nebraska
Maeha was a three-time Hawaiian state champion bowler under Coach Chad Pojas. She also won the OIA Girls Championship. She graduated magna cum laude from Leilehua High School.
Personal
The daughter of Samuel Maeha and Donna Oyamot-Maeha, Gwen was born on May 14, 2000. She has one sister, Jaydi Oyamot, and one brother, Gordon Maeha. A child, youth and family studies major, Gwen earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May 2023. She is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten choice and an eight-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. She has also been selected to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team five times and received the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award in 2022.
