2007-08: Senior
Imke Reimers closed the books in 2008 on one of the most successful careers, both on and off the court, in Nebraska history. Reimers, the team’s lone senior and team captain, led the team with 21 singles victories and 18 doubles victories in the fall and spring seasons combined.
After earning a No. 30 preseason ranking, Reimers injured her ankle in the fall and struggled to work back to full strength, but still managed to go 3-3 in singles and 2-1 in doubles play during the fall season. She was back to full strength for Nebraska when the spring season came around.
For the second straight year, Reimers cemented her role as NU’s top player and played every match for the Huskers at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles position. She started the season strong, winning her first 11 singles matches and doubles matches. During that stretch to start the season, Reimers had an amazing three 6-0, 6-0 sweeps and three more 6-0, 6-1 victories. In fact Reimers won an astounding 133 of her first 154 games and all 22 sets in her 11-match winning streak.
Although Reimers slowed down a bit during Big 12 play, she still wound up with an 18-5 overall and 7-4 Big 12 record for the season, including winning four of her last five matches to end the season. Reimers was honored as a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 Singles team for the second straight year.
Reimers and doubles partner Jana Albers were just as dominant on the doubles court, going 16-5, all at the No. 1 spot. Reimers and Albers were also Big 12 No. 1 Doubles champions after winning eight matches at that spot in conference play. The duo earned All-Big 12 Doubles honors for their efforts, as Reimers became the first player in NU history to earn All-Big 12 Singles and Doubles accolades for two straight seasons.
Reimers also made it seven-for-seven in Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll selections, as she was named to the list for the Fall 2007 semester. She was named to her third straight Academic All-Big 12 First Team, and was just one of four Big 12 women’s tennis players to have a perfect 4.0 GPA for the year.
Reimers left her mark on several career lists after an outstanding senior season. She leaves Nebraska second in career singles victories (90), first in career doubles victories (74), second in career combined wins (164), and second in career singles winning percentage (.726).
2006-07: Junior
Reimers’ junior season was one of the greatest in Husker history. Her 28 singles wins and 48 combined wins ranked second and fourth respectively in single-season NU history. Reimers started off the season strong, going 11-3 in the fall, including two tournament victories (Minnesota Invitational and ITA Central Regionals) and a win over the third-ranked player in the country, Stanford’s Theresa Logar, 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2. Logar is believed to be the highest-ranked opponent a Husker player has ever defeated.
Reimers didn’t slow down in the spring season. She played all of the Huskers’ 22 matches at the No. 1 singles position, where she went 17-4. She won her first six matches of the year, and later ran off a string of eight straight victories. Overall, she won 11 of her last 12 matches, and went 8-3 in Big 12 play. Dating back to her sophomore season, Reimers has won 35 of her last 42 matches. Through the course of the spring season, Reimers outscored her opponents by an amazing 123 games (240 won, 117 lost), and 35 of 45 sets played.
Reimers was also named to her second consecutive academic All-Big 12 First Team, as well as earning a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in both semesters. Reimers also earned CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Second-Team Academic All-America honors. In addition to her academic honors, Reimers was named to her first All-Big 12 Singles team and Doubles team.
Reimers was selected as an at-large bid to the 2007 NCAA Singles Championships in Athens, Ga., just the third Husker to ever earn a bid, joining Sandra Noetzel (1999) and Gitte Ostermann (2005). Reimers lost in the first round to Miami’s Audrey Banada, 7-5, 6-0. She finished the year with a final ITA ranking of No. 49.
2005-06: Sophomore
After a strong rookie campaign, Reimers raised expectations entering her sophomore season. Reimers, who played No. 2 singles in her initial collegiate season, got off to a rocky start by dropping two of her first four matches before getting back on track in the ITA Central Regional Consolation Tournament. She used a win over Oklahoma’s Christi Baxley to start a four-match winning streak that included a win over Kansas State’s Jessica Simosa, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8, in the tournament final.
Reimers started the 2006 spring season in the No. 3 spot in the lineup by taking four of her first five matches before moving up to No. 2 singles. In her first match at No. 2, Reimers upset No. 38 Ela Kaluder of Arkansas while helping the Huskers to the team win. Kaluder, who owned a 19-3 singles record and won the ITA Central Regional Championships, fell behind immediately as Reimers grabbed a 7-6 (2), 6-1 win.
Reimers rolled to a 15-6 record at the No. 2 spot. She closed out the season in strong fashion as she earned seven wins in her last eight completed matches. The Papenburg, Germany product finished the year with 25 singles wins, which ties Gitte Osterman for fifth most single-season victories in school history.
2004-05: Freshman
Reimers was a valuable addition to the lineup as Coach Scott Jacobson said she was the most talented true freshman he had ever recruited. She began her career by advancing to the Round of 16 in the ITA All-American Championships qualifying tournament.
In doubles play, Reimers teamed with Gitte Ostermann in the ITA Regional Championships where the duo advanced to the Round of 16. As a result, Ostermann and Reimers were ranked No. 11 in the ITA Central Regional rankings to start the spring season.
Reimers played primarily at the No. 2 slot, an impressive accomplishment since the 2005 Huskers featured five returning upperclassmen and a talented transfer vying for time in the lineup. She solidified her role when she began to find consistency following an upset of No. 47 Helga Viera in a three-set match.
Reimers took her game to the next level by winning eight of her final nine matches and finished singles play with a 16-9 record, including a 6-5 Big 12 mark at No. 2 singles. In doubles play, she teamed with Ewelina Skaza at the No. 2 spot where they posted a 17-3 record to rank fifth on the NU single-season chart.

Reimers is a 2004 graduate of Gymnasium High School in Papenburg, Germany.
Personal
Reimers was born in Papenburg, Germany on March 12, 1986. She is the daughter of Carsten and Jutta Reimers and has one brother, Christoph, 24. She is majoring in mathematics.
