2013 (Senior)
Björn Barrefors (pronounced Bih-yurn BAR-eh-FORSH) completed his Husker career in 2013, competing during the outdoor season... posted a fourth-place finish in the decathlon at the 2013 Big Ten Outdoor Championships with a total of 7,369 points... became Nebraska's only four-time Academic All-American as he was named to the Capital One Academic All-American Team... earned academic All-Big Ten honors... was selected as the 2012-13 Nebraska Male Student-Athlete of the Year... earned the Big Ten Medal of Honor and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar... notched season-best times of 11.26 in the 100 meters, 52.13 in the 400 meters, 5:14.89 in the 1,500 meters, 14.58 in the 110-meter hurdles... also notched a season-best vault of 15-11 (4.85) in the pole vault and a season-best jump of 23-5 1/2 (7.15) in the long jump... also recorded a season-best throw of 47-2 1/4 (14.38) in teh shot put, 146-0 (44.51) in the discus and 161-10 (49.33) in the javelin.

2012 (Senior/Junior)
Barrefors completed an impressive season for the Huskers, earning two first-team All-America honors, while also finishing as the 2012 Big Ten men's decathlon champion... finished second in the heptathlon at the 2012 Big Ten Indoor Championships, recording a total of 5,792 points... set a personal best in the pole vault at the 2012 Big Ten Indoor Championships with a vault of 16-8 3/4 (5.10)... finished fourth in the heptathlon at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships, posting a personal-best total of 5,894 points to break his own school record... tied his personal best of 7.10 in the 60 meters at the NCAA Championships... posted a personal-best throw of 48-2 3/4 (14.70) in the shot put at nationals.. won the 2012 Big Ten decathlon title with a record-breaking 7,897 points to earn the first decathlon title of his career... with that total, he broke the school record of 7,707 points that was set in 1992...he was the first Husker to win the decathlon since Aaron Henrichs claimed the Big 12 decathlon crown in 1998...also broke the Big Ten outdoor meet record and the McClimon Complex facility record... recorded a personal-best throw of 151-10 (46.27) in the discus at the 2012 Big Ten Outdoor Championships... also recorded a season-best pole vault of 16-7 1/4 (5.06) and a season-best javelin of 151-10 (46.29) at the conference championships... sealed the conference title with a season-best time of 4:53.51 in the 1,500 meters... finished eighth in the decathlon at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships, posting 7,769 points... opened the outdoor championships with a personal-best time of 10.93 in the 100 meters, also posted a season-best throw of 44-10 3/4 in the shot put... unleashed a season-best throw of 172-02 in the javelin... earned first-team outdoor All-Big Ten honors and second-team indoor All-Big Ten honors... First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2012 and a First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-District VII selection... also earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades, the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award and was named to the spring and fall Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.

2011 (Junior/Sophomore)
Barrefors competed at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2011... earned All-America honors in the outdoor decathlon (second team) and the indoor heptathlon (second team)... captured Big 12 Indoor heptathlon champion and earned All-Big 12 honors... recorded 5,816 points in the heptathlon at the 2011 Big 12 Indoor Championships, breaking the school record that he previously set in 2009... finished fifth (7,417) in the decathlon at the 2011 Big 12 Outdoor Championships... recorded personal bests in the indoor 60 meters (7.10), indoor high jump (6-9) and indoor heptathlon (5,816)... recorded personal bests in the outdoor shot put (46-6 3/4) and discus (136-4)... finished ninth in the heptathlon at the 2011 NCAA Indoor Championships and 12th in the decathlon at the 2011 Outdoor Championships... earned first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 2011 and was a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District VII selection.

2010 (Sophomore/Redshirt)
Barrefors made a repeat trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2010, but then redshirted the outdoor season due to a foot injury... made his season debut at the Husker Multi Challenge... scored just 3,762 points after not finishing the hurdles and passing on the pole vault... bounced back to place third in the heptathlon at the Big 12 Indoor Championships for the second straight year with an NCAA automatic-qualifying score of 5,710 points... did not repeat as an All-American at the national meet with an 11th-place finish (5,565 points)... was honored with the NCAA Elite 88 Award during the indoor season and was named a third-team CoSIDA Academic All-American.

2009 (Freshman)
Barrefors made an immediate impact on the Husker program in his first year, as he earned All-America honors in the indoor heptathlon and outdoor decathlon, while also breaking the school record in the heptathlon... set personal bests in six of the seven heptathlon events during the indoor season... competed in his first collegiate heptathlon at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, finishing third with 5,679 points, topping the NCAA automatic-qualifying mark of 5,650... broke Bill Vacek's 1996 school record of 5,766 points in the heptathlon with a season-best score of 5,795 points at the NCAA Indoor Championships to finish third and become the first Husker on the men's side in school history to earn All-America honors in the event... set or tied four personal bests at the NCAA meet, including the 60-meter dash (7.13), 1,000-meter run (2:50.57), long jump (24-2 1/2) and shot put (46-10)... opened the outdoor season at the Arizona State Invitational where he set personal bests in the shot put (46-6 1/4) and discus (134-3)... earned a decathlon victory one week later at the Jim Click Shootout, running a season-best time of 11.11 in the 100-meter dash and posting an NCAA provisional-qualifying score of 7,448... battled through a foot injury to finish sixth at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with 7,244 points... earned All-America honors in the decathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a sixth-place finish and a wind-aided score of 7,689 points (non-wind-aided score: 7,648)... set season bests in the 400-meter dash (49.96) and pole vault (16-0 3/4) at the national meet.

Before Nebraska (Teknikum HS)
Barrefors joined Nebraska as a multi-event athlete from Stockholm, Sweden, where he was coached by Agne Bergwall at Teknikum High School... was the 2008 Swedish senior champion in the indoor heptathlon (personal-best score of 5,577) and outdoor decathlon after finishing third in both events the previous year... posted a personal-best decathlon score of 7,405 at the 2008 European Cup in Jyväskylä, Finland, to finish seventh... ranked No. 14 on the under-20 world list in 2006 with a decathlon score of 7,012... finished 11th in the junior decathlon at the 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships in Beijing, China, with a score of 7,332... competed for the Hammarby IF Club under Coach Peter Wikstörm... chose Nebraska over Georgia and Mississippi State.
