2007 (Senior)
Tierre (pronounced Tee-AIR) Green completed his career as one of the Huskers’ most versatile performers in 2007. Green played in 49 games during his Husker career with 36 starts, including every game over his final two seasons in 2006 and 2007. The Omaha native saw action at running back, cornerback and safety during his stint in the Nebraska program.

As a senior, Green started all 12 games at free safety, and finished the season with 54 tackles, including 24 solo stops. Green also had a 14-yard sack against Kansas State and finished the season with four pass breakups. Green made a career-high nine tackles against Oklahoma State and had eight stops against Kansas.

Green tied for fourth on the team with 65 stops in 2006, while starting all 14 games at safety, and earned honorable-mention All-Big 12 honors from the Associated Press. Green had six games with five or more tackles, including a season-high seven tackles three times. He recorded his lone career interception at Oklahoma State. He also had three kickoff returns for 59 yards.

Green started seven games at cornerback in 2005, then was the first defensive back off the bench in the final five games. He finished the year with 29 tackles, including 19 solo stops, and had four breakups. Green had a season-high six tackles in a double-overtime win over Iowa State, and made five stops each against Pitt and Missouri. He also averaged 24.8 yards on nine kickoff returns, including a career-long 45-yard return vs. Iowa State. Six of Green’s nine returns went at least 22 yards. He also played on NU’s kickoff coverage, punt return and punt teams.

Green began his career as a running back and kick returner. In 2004, he earned three starts in the backfield and finished the year with 44 carries for 284 yards, an average of 6.5 yards per carry. He rushed for 112 yards in the opener against Western Illinois, the most rushing yards by a Husker in a varsity debut since 1973. Green also had 26 kickoff returns for 498 yards, an average of 19.2 yards per return. He totaled a season-high 214 all-purpose yards against Southern Miss.

2006 (Junior)
Green finished the season with six games of five or more tackles, including a season-high seven tackles three times. He opened the season with 14 tackles in the first three games, then posted back-to-back seven-tackle efforts against Kansas and Iowa State to open Big 12 play. Against the Jayhawks, Green also recorded a tackle for loss and had a fumble recovery.

Green tied his season high with seven tackles against fifth-ranked Texas. A week later he had five tackles and recorded his first career interception against Oklahoma State, returning the first-quarter pick 15 yards. He added six tackles a week later in Nebraska’s key North Division win over Missouri.

The Omaha native also played a role on special teams. He returned three kickoffs for 59 yards and was a member of Nebraska’s kickoff and punt coverage teams.

2005 (Sophomore)
Green played a key role in a re-tooled secondary that featured three new starters. He started the first seven games at the weak corner spot and finished the year with 29 tackles, including 19 solo stops, and had four breakups. He also averaged 24.8 yards on nine kickoff returns.

Green opened the year with four tackles and a pair of breakups against Maine. He had a season-high six tackles, including five solo stops, in a double-overtime victory over Iowa State, and made five tackles against both Pitt and Missouri. In the return game, he had a 43-yard return in the season opener vs. Maine, and added a career-long 45-yard return vs. Iowa State. Six of Green’s nine returns went at least 22 yards. He also played on NU’s kickoff coverage, punt return and punt teams.

2004 (Redshirt Freshman)
Green played in all 11 games, sharing the No. 2 I-back position with freshman Brandon Jackson. Green earned starts against Pittsburgh, Kansas State and Colorado, when NU opened in multiple-back sets. He finished the year with 44 carries for 284 yards, an average of 6.5 yards per carry.

Green redshirted and worked on the scout team.

Before Nebraska (Omaha Benson HS)
Green earned first-team Class A all-state honors from the Omaha World-Herald as a senior when he had 63 tackles, including 50 solos, for Omaha Benson. He was also a second-team All-Nebraska pick by the World-Herald. He returned one interception for a touchdown and also forced a pair of fumbles. The World-Herald also picked him as first-team All-Metro as a defensive back.

Green also rushed for 627 yards for Coach Lonnie Tapp, while scoring eight touchdowns. Green’s top game as a senior came against Omaha North, when he rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns, totaled 130 kickoff return yards, returned an interception for a touchdown and made eight tackles. He helped the Bunnies to a pair of playoff appearances as a sophomore and junior. In addition to Nebraska, Green received a scholarship offer from Iowa State. Green was also a four-year member of Benson’s track team.

Personal
Tierre is the son of Lisa Conway and was born on Feb. 4, 1985. He is the cousin of former Husker and current Houston Texan Ahman Green and NU freshman Niles Paul. Tierre’s uncle, Michael, also played for NU, lettering in 1968 and 1969. Tierre has volunteered his time as part of Nebraska’s team hospital visits in Lincoln and Omaha. He is also a member of the Your Degree First program, and earned his degree from Nebraska in December of 2007.
