The Nebraska women’s tennis team will head to its fourth tournament of the fall season as the Huskers are set to compete in the ITA Central Regional Championships. The tournament takes place in Memphis, Tenn., and runs from Oct. 14-19. Competition is set to begin at 9 a.m. each day, and tournament schedules and scores will be available via the tournament page.
The Huskers look to build their success from the fall season so far coming off the UTR Pro Tour Tournament in which the Big Red took up the entire final four draw, with Katie Spencer taking the crown. NU heads into the tournament with a 14-5 singles record and 6-2 doubles record after going undefeated in doubles at the Husker Invitational.
Six Huskers will be competing in the tournament which features Spencer, Maria Taranova and Conley Raidt in the main singles draw, and Emma Rizzetto, Reya Lee Coe and Neda Rahimkhani in the qualifying draw for singles.
The six athletes will all pair up for doubles with Raidt and Spencer leading the charge. Rahimkhani and Rizzetto will team up with a win under their belt, and Coe and Taranova will pair up for the first time this season.
The central region of the tournament, hosted by the University of Memphis at the Leftwich Tennis Center, is one of 13 regional sites. The regional tournaments will send 26 singles qualifiers and 13 doubles qualifiers to the NCAA Individual Championships in November.
