Nebraska Falls to No. 10 Memphis in Weekend Finale

The Nebraska rifle team wrapped up its first multi-match weekend with a loss at No. 10 Memphis, 4,710-4,697. 

Alivia Perkins put up another strong performance, taking first place with a 1,183. Maddy Moyer also placed in the top five, shooting a 1,176 (Fifth place). 

“I’m proud of the way we battled this weekend,” Head Coach Richard Clark said. “Going on the road for back-to-back matches against top programs is not an easy task, and we had to fight through a lot of adversity. While the numbers weren’t quite what we had hoped for, we will take what we learned and get back to the range this week to continue growing.” 

In the smallbore, Perkins led the way with a 587, placing third. Moyer followed that up with a 584, finishing fourth. Carley Seabrooke (eighth, 580), Katlyn Sullivan (10th, 579) and Hannah Gallagher (11th, 577) rounded out the Big Red smallbore lineup. Makenzie Larson did not finish her smallbore round due to a gun malfunction, so the top four scores from each team counted towards the team score instead of five.

In the air rifle, Perkins took the top place with a 596. This marked her third time this season with a score of 595 or higher. Moyer finished with a 592, taking fifth in the air rifle. Gallagher and Seabrooke followed right behind her, each shooting a 591. Gallagher placed sixth, and Seabrooke placed eighth. The tiebreaker was determined by the number of inner tens shot by each athlete. Larson (Ninth, 588) and Sullivan (12th, 586) wrapped up the air rifle squad. 

The Huskers will take a two-week hiatus before hosting Kentucky on Saturday, Oct. 24. They will then host Alaska-Fairbanks on Sunday, Oct. 25. Both matches are set to start at 8 a.m. (CT).
