Soccer Commences Big Ten Play Against Indiana, Iowa

Huskers Commence Big Ten Play
• Nebraska soccer begins Big Ten Conference action with a home match on Thursday, Sept. 10, against the Indiana Hoosiers at 7:05 p.m. (CT) and a road match at Iowa on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. (CT). 
• The Huskers enter this week with a record of 2-1-3, coming off a scoreless draw at Kansas State on Aug. 30.

• Thursday’s match will stream on B1G+ and kick off at 7:05 p.m. (CT). Sunday’s match in Iowa City will be available on the Big Ten Network. 
• Radio for Thursday’s match will be provided on KRNU 90.3 with Ethan Mackenthun and Christian Ellner. The match will also be broadcast on B1G+ with Chase Ruch and Christopher Sullivan-Diaz. 

Series History vs. Indiana
• Nebraska is 10-1-1 all-time against Indiana, with the last meeting coming in the 2024 season. The Huskers came away with a 3-1 victory over the Hoosiers. 
• The Huskers are an unblemished 6-0 against Indiana in Lincoln. Nebraska has beaten IU in 2024, 2018, 2016, 2014, 2013, and 2012 by a combined score of 16-6. 

Series History vs. Iowa
• The Big Red is 12-6-1 against Iowa, with all but three meetings coming since Nebraska joined the Big Ten in 2011. 
• Iowa has taken four of the last five matchups, including a 1-0 win over Nebraska during the 2025 season. 
• Nebraska’s last win against Iowa came in the 2023 season, a 4-2 win over the Hawkeyes in Lincoln. 

2026 By The Numbers
• 3: As of Tuesday, Sept. 8, Avery Gillahan is third in the Big Ten in goalie minutes played, tallying 537:46 in the net in 2026. The Strongsville, Ohio native has recorded two consecutive shutouts.
• 5: Nebraska ranks fifth in the conference in shots per game (17.50) and shots on goal per game (7) through the first six matches of the season.  The Huskers notched a season-high 26 shots against Omaha on Aug. 27 and also eclipsed 20 or more shots vs. South Dakota (25) and Alabama (22).

Bohonek's Brace Lifts Huskers Past Omaha, 3-0
• Carson Bohonek (pronounced Bo-HON-ek) recorded the first brace of her career, and Nebraska soccer dominated the Omaha Mavericks, 3-0, on Aug. 27.
• The Huskers set single-season highs in shots (26), shots on goal (13), and corner kicks (12). 
• The Big Red also held Omaha to just two shots, the fewest allowed by Nebraska since 2021, when they also held Omaha to one shot. Nebraska also surrendered zero corner kicks. 
• The brace for Bohonek marks the first of her career and the first for a Husker since Kayma Carpenter netted two goals against Kansas State on Sep. 7, 2025. 

Nebraska Works Scoreless Draw at Kansas State
• Nebraska soccer earned a road point on Sunday, Aug. 30, closing non-conference play with a 0-0 draw with Kansas State at Buser Family Park in Manhattan, Kan. 
• Nebraska moved to 2-1-3 with the tie, while Kansas State remained unbeaten at 4-0-1. The Big Red produced 12 shots, including six on goal, and nine corner kicks but could not score.
• Ella Rudney led the Huskers with six shot attempts, including a missed penalty kick in the second half. Avery Gillahan posted her second consecutive clean sheet at goalie, logging all 90 minutes and saving three Wildcat shots.
• Along with Rudney, Nathalie Lewis and Kayma Carpenter recorded a pair of shots, with Lewis narrowly missing a goal in the opening minutes. Carpenter also had a late attempt in the final minutes that was saved.
